Protecting Your Hair From The Sun’s Harmful Rays

Protecting Your Hair From The Sun’s Harmful Rays

Ny based licensed hair& skin care expert Gregorie Guillaume offers care & product tips on Protecting Your Hair From The Sun’s Harmful Rays.

Just when we got used to the idea of lathering on the sunscreen from our faces down to maybe our ankles, there’s one area we don’t readily include - our hair. As the weather heats up, our precious strands are exposed to the same Ultra Violet Aging and Ultra Violet Burning sun rays as our skin, wreaking all sorts of havoc like depleting it of moisture eventually breaking them. Head off the summer dry hair assault by trying Alterna Hair Care CC Cream, which does a multitude of things, but most importantly provides sunscreen protection and Rene Furterer Paris Protective Summer Oil with sunscreen - easy-to-use and off to the beach you go.

    Beware of Heating Hair Tools
Limit the use of hair tools like blow driers, flat irons and curlers as much as possible. As with the sun, it can exacerbate dryness and if done in excess, can make hair weak and break. Search for heat-alternative styles like roller-setting for volume, styles that involve the use of pomades, gels and mousses and hair accessories - anything that puts the emphasis on using traditional tools like a comb, brush and your own fingers to create an awesome summer style.

    Incorporate Deep Conditioning Treatments
Moisturizing is nothing new, but during the summer months especially, a deep conditioning treatment should be brought into the mix and done weekly.

    Treatments For Different Hair Types
If your hair is on the dry/frizzy end of the spectrum and may even be color-treated - let your strands get the most out of a deep conditioning treatment - one that contains shea butter, preferably, by sitting beneath a conditioning heat cap for at least 15 minutes. Done on a routine basis will encourage elasticity and reduce breakage. Sally Beauty has a fabulous supply of these types of products. The use of a heavy conditioner would be counter-intuitive for other types of hair: fine, normal, oily because it would weigh the hair down, so err on the side of caution.

Using her expertise as a New York-based licensed skin care expert, Gregorie gives the scoop on the newest must-have products for the face, hair and body. The twist - she gives women insider tips and tricks for applying great celeb beauty looks, establishing innovative beauty regimes, and interjecting new trends into their existing beauty routines.

(BPRW) STRENGTH OF NATURE AIMS TO REVOLUTIONIZE HAIR CARE WITH THE REVERSIBLE™ STRAIGHTENING TEXTURE MANAGEABILITY™ SYSTEM

    - Innovative product offers flexibility to go from curly texture to straight styles and back without harsh chemicals -

(BLACK PR WIRE) – (SAVANNAH, GA) January 28, 2014 – Strength of Nature, LLC the makers of African Pride, Beautiful Textures, Mega Growth, Elasta QP, Soft & Beautiful, TCB, and Proline is changing the rules in hair care with a ground-breaking new product: the Reversible™ Straightening Texture Manageability™ System!

    STRENGTH OF NATURE

Now women can have the hair versatility they want without harsh chemicals and without permanently altering their curl pattern.

Whatever your hair texture - curly, kinky-coily, wavy or frizzy - the Reversible™ Straightening Texture Manageability™ System (TMS) allows you to go from natural curls to straight styles and back again. For relaxed hair, the system extends the time between relaxer new-growth applications.

"We've heard what women have been asking for," says Strength of Nature CEO Mario de la Guardia. "They want styling versatility. They want no harsh chemicals and they want healthy hair. The Texture Manageability™ System provides all three in a simple, at-home, four-step process. This is truly a game-changer and we at Strength of Nature couldn't be more thrilled to be ushering in a new category in hair care: texture manageability."

The secret is the Inner-Active™ Leave-In Conditioner, which is infused with essential oils, natural butters and amino acids, and has no harsh chemicals. The Inner Active™ leave-in conditioner penetrates the hair, causing it to elongate and soften while making it easier to detangle. Once the detangling process is complete, the hair is blow-dried and flat ironed, creating beautifully straight, touchable soft hair with unmatched body, movement and shine - all in a fraction of the time of most traditional straightening methods.

It just takes four quick steps:
Step 1: Shampoo and rinse hair 3 times. Towel dry.
Step 2: Apply leave-in conditioner. Wait 20 minutes.
Step 3: Blow dry hair using medium heat.
Step 4: Flat iron for desired results.

TMS gives Reversible™ Straightening that lasts 4 to 6 weeks with the use of the Humidity Defense™ Anti-Reversion Shampoo and Conditioner.

To flip back to natural, shampoo hair several times with a clarifying shampoo.

Strength of Nature recently presented TMS to a group of top hair and beauty editors in Miami during their “Beautiful Textures Ultimate Beauty Getaway,” which was attended by designer/TV personality Angela Simmons along with reps from Ebony, Glamour.com, iTunes, TheYBF.com, MadameNoire, HelloBeautiful, JUICY, Haircrush, Curlbox and more.

TMS is now available at Walgreens and will roll out to other major retailers in the spring.

(BPRW) U Brands Announces Re-Launch of HypeHair.com in Time for 21st Anniversary

    - Redesigned Website to Transform African American Hair Care Industry Online with Expanded Content and Social Media -

(BLACK PR WIRE) – NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Len Burnett and Brett Wright of Uptown Ventures Group (DBA U Brands), the parent company of Hype LLC, today announced the re-launch of HypeHair.com and the redesign of Hype Hair Magazine, the leading consumer magazine and brand dedicated to African American women’s hair care.

The updated site features a combination of rich media, video, photos, virtual makeovers, how to’s, product reviews and the latest news and information on today’s hair care trends. Complimenting the content offering, the site has been enabled with social media widgets and optimized for mobile distribution, offering ease of use for consumers on the go. The site will launch with over 25 of the biggest and brightest bloggers and v-bloggers in the industry.

“The time was long overdue for a media company to step up and create a platform to serve the ethnic hair care community with the quality it deserves,” said Brett Wright, Chief Content Officer. “Hype Hair is excited about the new site and social media platform it has developed for consumers and advertisers to connect.”

“Advertisers have been either priced out or behind the technology curve in this industry and we are excited to create new opportunities for advertisers to reach their target audience through an integrated 360 degree experience utilizing print, web, social media and event based marketing,” said Len Burnett, Co-CEO.

U Brands is a multimedia company with a focus on acquiring and licensing underdeveloped niche brands that target underserved audiences. The billion dollar ethnic beauty and hair care industry has been fragmented and lacked a progressive media destination for engagement and aggregation. That insight led to the creation of a content platform that leverages todays’ technology and social media to deliver brands and products directly to consumers where they dwell.

Hype Hair celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and will be one of the cornerstones of U Brands growing media presence. U Brands will leverage its internal capabilities in publishing, digital, experiential, licensing and sales expertise to add value to acquired brands as well as create immediate efficiencies.

U Brands is a multimedia company with a focus on acquiring and licensing underdeveloped niche brands that target underserved audiences. Christina Milian and the 2013 ALMA Awards

History was made on Friday night when the 2013 ALMA Awards were broadcasted live for the first time ever. From head to toe, Christina Milian stole the show on stage in Pasadena, California with her Grecian-inspired look. The young singer/actress and Dancing with the Stars contestant was a vision in her goddess-style, classic cream-colored Sen Couture gown. Her hair was the perfect pairing in a full, high pompadour, a classic up-do and must-have accessory to achieve the desired look. Christina turned to her long-time stylist, Randy Stodghill, who took a fresh approach to, adding a modern twist and his own personal touch.

    Christina Milian

look, Stodghill noted how healthy her hair is, pulling it back into a loose ponytail and folding it over into a bun. "The condition that your hair is in is key when trying to make a style work." He then left out some strands of hair, making loose curls. He used the curls as a frame for the bun and also set the front of the hair in rollers to achieve volume. He played with the hair with his fingers to add texture and then brushed the front of the hair towards the side and back to create the modern pompadour look, pinning it under the bun.

    Christina Milian

When asked what he recommends for those trying to achieve this look at home, Randy mentioned Christina's hair is thick and gorgeous but not all of us are blessed with that naturally. “I always recommend my clients start taking Viviscal because it makes a big difference. The hair grows faster and gives more oomph, while leaving a healthy shine and soft finish. You end up having more volume because it is thicker and gives an all-around healthier appearance."

    Christina Milian

“I have a lot of clients that complain about thin, dry, unhealthy and dull hair and the first thing I always ask them is what are you doing? They always admit to something unhealthy. People forget hair is alive. If you keep your body healthy and feed it what it needs to function, your hair is bound to grow and flourish too.”

    Viviscal

Randy also noted how important diet is. He recommends Viviscal, lots of water, sunflower seeds, eggs, whole grains - all things that make hair shine beautifully, and keep it hydrated. “I am big on supplements for hair and skin, I tell all my clients, teach your body right and your hair and skin will look beautiful.”

‘CHILDREN WITH HAIR LOSS’ (CWHL) UNVEILS NEW LOGO, BRANDING & SOCIAL NETWORK

    CWHL logo

    - MICHIGAN-BASED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION PROVIDES FREE HUMAN HAIR REPLACEMENTS TO CHILDREN WITH MEDICALLY-RELATED HAIR LOSS -

Detroit, MI – Children With Hair Loss (CWHL), a Michigan-based non-profit organization that provides customized human hair replacements at no cost to children with medically-related hair loss, announces a new look for their branding, including a redeveloped logo, website, and social network.

CWHL was founded in 2000 by Regina Villemure after her niece, Sarah, was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia at age 3. After spending five years in and out of Children’s Hospital in Detroit while Sarah was receiving chemotherapy, Regina was exposed to many children who were losing, or had lost their hair, and had, as a result, low self-esteem.

Regina (a hairdresser, salon owner and cosmetologist by trade), researched hair-donation organizations around the country to find one that provided human hair replacements to children at no cost, with no success. She then made it her mission to build CWHL in order to provide free annual hair replacements to children with medically-related hair loss until they no longer need them, or until they reach age 21. CWHL is committed to never charging a family at a time when they need help the most.

    Children With Hair Loss
“I’ve been fortunate enough through our work at CWHL to be able to experience the most heartwarming feelings of helping children overcome a huge obstacle to their happiness,” said Regina. “At a time when many children need to channel their full energy into healing, the last thing they should be worried about is their looks and their hair loss, but it’s a reality. I’ve seen kids go from being afraid of being bullied at school and having low self-esteem, to gaining confidence and completely turning their lives around. When you turn a child towards a mirror so they can see their new hair for the first time, you see their smile return and you actually witness life coming back to their eyes. It’s absolutely amazing.”

Regina was recently honored by WJR Radio in Detroit, as one of 12 outstanding “Women Who Lead,” a program designed to recognize women throughout the Great Lakes region who are positively influencing the community. She was interviewed by Ann Thomas, Executive Producer of WJR’s Paul W. Smith Show and Host of Women Who Lead (listen here: http://bit.ly/Ne1H3o). Regina is also invited to participate in WJR’s special broadcast of the Paul W. Smith show & breakfast this September, which will celebrate “Women Who Lead.”

CWHL relies heavily on volunteers to facilitate operations, organize events and to manage the hair donation process. CWHL graciously accepts hair donations of 8-inches or longer, either braided or in a ponytail.

When a child receives their hair replacement, it is accompanied by a hair care kit of products (shampoo, conditioner, serum, thermal spray, hair spray, a face-framer, a drying stand, etc.) at no cost. A large base of volunteer licensed hairdressers & barbers in salons across the country assist CWHL by providing free cutting & styling services to children who receive hair replacements in their areas.

Each child’s complete customized human hair replacement package can cost up to $5,000. Through CWHL, the entire package is provided to them at no cost. With its nationwide network of partners, CWHL has the capacity to provide free customized human hair replacements to thousands of children annually, with the proper funding for manufacturing costs. In a concerted effort to do so, CWHL is actively seeking sponsorships and strong partnerships.

“It’s so amazing – the feeling that you have inside. Your heart feels so full because you’re truly making a difference in a child’s life. They’re our future – we need to take care of them now.” - Regina Villemure

Additional information about CWHL can be found at www.childrenwithhairloss.us; www.facebook.com/CWHLMI and www.twitter.com/CWHL_org; by phone: 734.379.4400 and by email: info@childrenwithhairloss.us.

About Children With Hair Loss (CWHL):
Children With Hair Loss (CWHL) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides annual customized human hair replacements and styling services, at no cost, to children with medically-related hair loss until they reach age 21. The goal of CWHL is to empower as many children as possible, by increasing their self-confidence and renewing their self-esteem, which are often lost with the loss of hair. CWHL operates entirely on revenues generated from tax-deductible donations, fundraisers and grants. CWHL is also dedicated to raising awareness of the emotional and psychological effects in children, after hair loss takes place.
