January 20, 2015 – ASPiRE (@tvASPiRE) today announced the season two premiere of its popular original weekly “clean stand-up” comedy/reality series, “Laff Mobb’s We Got Next” (#WeGotNext), hosted by Co-Creator and Co-Executive Producer of “Def Comedy Jam” Bob Sumner. Filmed before live audiences at the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood, CA, “Laff Mobb’s We Got Next” continues to deliver a new twist on stand-up, featuring 16 new voices of African-American stand-up comedy in eight 30-minute episodes this season. Produced by Laff Mobb and New Wave Entertainment, the new season of “Laff Mobb’s We Got Next” will premiere on Wednesday, February 4 at 10 p.m. EST.

“Laff Mobb’s We Got Next” is an entertaining half-hour where reality meets clean comedy via performances and profiles of the next generation of great African-American comics. In Season Two, the weekly series will take viewers back into the “Clean Comedy Lab” of Bob Sumner (co-creator/co-executive producer of HBO’s “Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam”) as he sets out to answer the question, “Who’s Next?” Each week, Sumner decides which of the 16 comedians from his pool of talent is ready to be in the spotlight. When selected, DJ Mike Smoove introduces each comic to the stage to perform. Sumner sits down with each comic before they take the stage and viewers hear why doing clean comedy is so important and how it affects their lives.

“We are proud to provide a place on television where the next generation of African-American comics can do clean comedy that is hilarious and entertaining. We are extremely excited to be back in the lab with Bob Sumner, Laff Mobb and New Wave Entertainment,” said Paul Butler, general manager, ASPIRE.

“After discovering some terrific talent in season one, I’m back in front of the cameras this season to present ‘Who’s Next’ in 2015, and introduce the next generation of comedians to the world,” said Co-Creator and Co-Executive Producer of “Def Comedy Jam” Bob Sumner. “I can’t wait for ASPiRE viewers to meet and laugh with all 16 of these phenomenally funny stand-up comedians.”

NYC Artist Eileen Hickey Takes on Comedy, Giving the Gift of Laughter to Her Fans

    Eileen Hickey

The late Robin Williams once said “comedy can be a cathartic way to deal with personal trauma.” One woman who uses comedy to deal with her personal issues as well as help others, by giving the gift of laughter, is Eileen Hickey. Eileen also known as “Eileen Bang Bang” recently made her stand-up comedy debut at the Broadway Comedy Club in New York City.

Hickey, who’s usually creating one of her quirky pieces from beauty products and other unconventional art material, has chosen to take her talents to the stage.

    Eileen Hickey
    Artwork by Eileen Bang Bang

Comedy is now Hickey’s second love, a passion that started as a coping mechanism in response to her divorce. “I call them marriage years, like dog years. I was 25 when I got married and 3 years later I was 50! I’m really 35!” joked the NYC artist during her debut performance on the topic of marriage and divorce. “My husband’s job was to empty the bank accounts, max-out the credit cards, take my businesses and leave me with no way to earn a living except to write a divorced/dragged behind a car, set on fire country song’” added Eileen.

Divorce is one of the most traumatic events an individual can endure according to experts. Hickey wants to lighten the divorce burden that psychologically can cripple both men and women. She has launched a series of artistic endeavors to achieve her goal.

“Hell Yeah!” her calling card, is the foundations name. You can find more about Hickey’s art and her comedy at www.eileenhickey-hulme.com and her Facebook page: Eileen’s Hickey-Hulme.

Ensemble cast of stand-up comedians take their characters from the parole board to the board room in new media series debuting on Roku.

SAME STUDIOS STARTS PRODUCTION ON COMEDY SERIES “GANG INC.”

LOS ANGELES – (February 10, 2014) – Actor/producer/writer Sean Hampton (“Getting Back to Zero,” “The S&M Experience”) is making his scripted comedy series directorial debut with “GANG INC.,” a comedy series featuring characters who move from the parole board to the board room. This new media series begins production in February in South Los Angeles and will debut April 16, 2014 on the Gang Inc. channel on Roku.

    COMEDY SERIES “GANG INC.T

“We created this series for a new media audience. Our streamlined 12- to 15-minute episodes are designed to match today’s online viewing habits but we can easily combine two episodes to deliver half hours for traditional TV,” said Hampton.

A unique component of the series is the shared background of the ensemble cast of stand-up comedians which includes Charles Dirden III (“DEF Comedy Jam”), Lance Allen (VH1’s “Stevie TV“) and Matthew Clark (“Rodeo Driver). Hampton says, “It takes a lot of energy, spontaneity and creativity to succeed in stand-up and this series harnesses all of that.”

“GANG INC.” follows the day-to-day antics in the office of the Trapstar Gangster Killers Inc. (TGK). TGK is the culmination of the prison education of its CEO, Delroy (DIRDEN). As the leader of the street gang Trapstar Gangster Killers, Delroy ran the most feared gang in Los Angeles. While serving a prison sentence he studied business and finance. It was then that he figured out Wall Street runs exactly the same way his gang works, except they enjoy governmental protections. Armed with their new education and insight, Delroy immediately incorporated his gang upon release. Installing his top lieutenants as corporate officers, TGK Inc. now wields power over its 50,000 members with the effectiveness of a Wall Street financial giant.

Even though they’ve traded in their hoodies and jeans for collared shirts and slacks, the officers of TGK Inc. carry their gang mentality to the office. Their street skills aid in corporate collections and stock manipulations but they take simple office pranks seriously. While they’ve maintained a certain gang demeanor, corporate America finds itself creeping into their lifestyle as well. Expresso, Pampered Chef parties and cooler discussions about drive-by shootings are also part of the day’s agenda. It may be extortion and mayhem to you and me, but it’s business as usual at TGK Inc.

“GANG INC.” is created and written by Sean Hampton, Aaron Austin (“The S&M Experience”) and Matt Getic (“The S&M Experience”). The trio is also serving as executive producers.

    About Sean Hampton
Sean's first television appearance was on the series “Dr. G.: Medical Examiner,” playing real-life Orlando Detective Reggie Campbell. Because of a miscommunication, the local police temporarily issued an A.P.B. for Sean, believing he was impersonating a police officer. After seeing his image on the news as "Wanted," Sean's wife called the news desk to explain the mix-up. A camera crew was dispatched and the retraction story aired before any serious harm was caused. Since then Sean has appeared in several other series including: “General Hospital,” “Eleventh Hour,” “The Young and the Restless,” CSI” and more.

In 2009 Sean took on a dual role as supporting actor and associate producer on the feature film “Sandcastles.” During the same year he worked on the feature films “Getting Back to Zero” starring Wayne Newton, and “The Arcadian,” produced by The Fringe Majority LLC.

Most recently he wrote, produced and starred in “The S&M Experience,” a sketch comedy series produced by SAME Productions.

    About SAME Studios
SAME Studios (Sean Aaron Matt Entertainment Studios) is a Los Angeles-based production company. Founded in 2013, SAME produces original entertainment content including the award nominated new media sketch comedy series “The S&M Experience.” The company is currently in production on “GANG Inc.,” a new media comedy series, and in development on a feature film, “Unreliable.”
