    “Baa Baa Land”

The dullest movie ever made? We hope so, say makers of “Baa Baa Land” - an 8-hour sheep film

    Baa Baa Land

It’s an eight-hour slow-motion film with no plot, dialogue or actors -- a contemplative epic, entirely starring...sheep.
“Baa Baa Land” is slated for a red-carpet premiere and global webcast in September.

The American-financed, British-made film will premiere at the Prince Charles Cinema in London’s West End on the same date [to be announced] that Calm.com, the California-based meditation app that produced it, premieres it online for a global audience.

Calm.com is the first app to break into movies with this slow-mo epic film.

“It’s better than any sleeping pill – the ultimate insomnia cure,” says Alex Tew, Baa Baa Land’s executive producer and co-founder of Calm.

“We’re in discussion about U.S. and wider distribution and in talks with an American TV channel,” says Michael Acton Smith, its other executive producer and Calm’s other co-founder.

For those who lack the time to watch the entire film, an 86-second trailer available on the Calm.com blog gives a taste, while a voiceover explains its rationale:

    https://calmlife.squarespace.com/relax/baa-baa-land

“In a world of constant stress and information overload, of anxious days and restless nights ... comes the chance at last ... to pause ... to breathe ... to calm our racing minds and fretful souls... to sit and stare ... at sheep.

“Baa Baa Land is the first screen epic entirely starring sheep. A cast of hundreds... all of them sheep. Count them if you can – but don’t stress if you can’t. Sit back, wind down, drift off ... to sheep.”

Baa Baa Land has no car-chases, explosions or star names. All it has is sheep and fields.

Long, loving takes – some up to an hour long – show the sheep in question, standing around in fields, doing very little.

Baa Baa Land was conceived by producer Peter Freedman and directed, shot and edited on by Garth Thomas, a British director of arts films.

It is both the first feature film produced by Calm – or any app – and also part of Calm’s broader strategy to diversify offline.

“Our ambition is to be much more than just a meditation app,” says Alex Tew of Calm, which this month also launches the first in a range of offline products for the well-being market.

THERE IS A NEW DOCTOR IN HARLEM AND SHE IS READY FOR A BROAD AUDIENCE

    NEW COMEDY SERIES
    “RHONDA MITCHELL M.D.”
    PRESENTS ITS WORLD PREMIERE

FRIDAY, JUNE 16, 2017 IN SOUTH BEACH, MIAMI

NEW YORK – June 15, 2017 – Fresh, new web series “Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” is the prescription to cure all that ails. With hilarity, exciting drama and a charming and diverse cast, the smart dramedy series -- set in a busy Harlem clinic -- is ready to be acquired or distributed by a network or streaming service. Viewers will be able to get their first dose of “Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” as it makes its world premiere during the American Black Film Festival on Friday, June 16, 2017 in South Beach, Florida. The VIP screening will be held at 7:30 p.m. in The Library @ The Catalina Hotel and Beach Club, 1732 Collins Avenue.

Shot in Harlem, New York and directed by Roderick Giles (“Gully,” “The Date,” “FWord”) “Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” is a comedic medical themed drama. The series boasts a diverse ensemble cast including, Jowanda Durham (Fists of Love, “Miss Bomba Claudie Show”) in the title role; Malachi Rivers (“Ferguson,” “Lips”); Mugga (Precious,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Power”); Robert Starks (“The Haves and Have Nots”); Ruth Maria Flores (I am my sister’s keeper, “Fever Divas”) Vanessa Fant (“Miss Bomba Claudie Show”) and Mike Troy Smith (“Chappelle’s Show,” “Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam”). “Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” is created by Carolyn Pierre-Outlar, executive produced by James McKnight and Vanessa McKnight and produced by Jerome Outlar.

‘”Rhonda Mitchell M.D.’ is a groundbreaking new comedy series with a diverse cast set in a Harlem-based medical clinic,” said Vanessa McKnight, executive producer. “This unique setting allows for lots of entertaining plot twists and humor while imparting powerful medical knowledge. The series has high entertainment value and we look forward to partnering with a distribution company that welcomes this fresh, positive series with relatable characters that viewers will enjoy and appreciate.”

“After years of working as a medical clinician, I totally relate to Rhonda Mitchell,” said writer/creator Pierre-Outlar. “While her character does a lot of crazy things that I could never and would never do to my patients, I was moved to share the stories behind these experiences and conform them into fun, entertaining television. I am thrilled to bring these very relatable characters and situations to life and to work with this talented and beautiful cast.”

Birthed from real life professional medical knowledge and experience, “Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” centers on ambitious, young medical doctor Dr. Rhonda Mitchell (Jowanda Durham) who after working her butt off in an Ivy-league medical school, is looking forward to her dream job, living a lavish lifestyle and enjoying a rewarding career. Fast forward - Rhonda is fired from a successful medical practice. After months of being unemployed, she reluctantly returns home to work beside her father Dr. John Mitchell (Robert Starks) at his busy clinic in Harlem which is a far cry from her glamorous practice and celebrity patients.

The clinic is managed by Winsome Thomas (Mugga) her dad’s best friend and Rhonda’s former baby sitter. Brian Donovan (Malachi Rivers) an old friend and competitor of Rhonda’s is their physician assistant. He and Rhonda have a love-hate relationship due largely to Brian’s secret crush on Rhonda. Always cheerful, but potty mouth medical assistant Arielys Santiago (Ruth Maria Flores) dreams of becoming a nurse and soon comes to idolize Rhonda for her expertise and unconventional ways. Adding to the hilarity is Cynthia Taylor (Vanessa Fant), Rhonda’s best friend and self-appointed stylist. A former child model/actress – with one commercial to her credit – Cynthia also dreams of the big time.

Rhonda quickly learns that moving back home isn’t just about the drama she finds, it’s about the drama she left behind and his name is David Roberts (Mike Troy Smith) who she once fell hard for and then dumped him when she decided to focus on her career. The comedy and drama ensues as Rhonda settles into her new lifestyle, juggles her professional and personal life and realizes that she’ll never be that dream doctor with a fancy practice. Now, she’s a Harlem girl through and through.

“Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” co-star Jowanda Durham says, “I love Rhonda because she is so true to herself. She followed all the rules and now she has to start over again, like many of us often have to do; I know I did! The writing drew me to this project. It’s funny, genuine and fresh. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive team. I'm so blessed to be a part of this vision!”

“Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” is a Pierre Outlar Entertainment production. Starring Jowanda Durham, Malachi Rivers, Mugga, Robert Starks, Ruth Maria Flores, Vanessa Fant and Mike Troy Smith. Created and written by Carolyn Pierre-Outlar. Executive produced by Vanessa McKnight and James McKnight. Produced by Jerome Outlar. Directed by Roderick Giles. “Rhonda Mitchell M.D.” was shot exclusively in Harlem, New York at a Harlem clinic. Six episodes are completed and ready for broadcast.

INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY WELCOMES BACK NETWORK FAN-FAVORITE AND LEGENDARY HOMICIDE DETECTIVE GARRY MCFADDEN FOR SECOND SEASON OF “I AM HOMICIDE”

New Episodes of I AM HOMICIDE Air Tuesdays at 10/9c Starting on June 6

     I AM HOMICIDE

(Silver Spring, Md.) –Investigation Discovery (ID), America’s leading destination for true crime programming, announced today the return of its hit series I AM HOMICIDE for an all-new season. Retired Charlotte Mecklenburg County detective Garry McFadden is an officer unlike any other. As one of America’s most dedicated detectives, he immerses himself on every street corner to protect and serve the community he has devoted his life to defending. Over his career, McFadden has solved nearly 700 homicide cases, resulting in a 90-percent success rate with the investigations he pursues. But he uses his street smarts, and most importantly his relationships within the community, to forge a deep connection that goes beyond the search for the perpetrator. His dedication to the pursuit of justice is equally as important as the lives of the families he has vowed to protect as if they were his own. I AM HOMICIDE premieres with an all-new season beginning Tuesday, June 6 at 10/9c only on ID.

McFadden is well-regarded among law enforcement for his unorthodox methods of cracking cases – most often operating out of the local diner to conduct interviews instead of the precinct. His fiery passion is punctuated by a knack for pursuing justice while wearing the best suits in town. In 10 all-new episodes, viewers will witness his most unique and diabolical cases, from his run-in with a local white supremacist that resulted in a cross-country manhunt, to a harrowing murder in which the only witness was a three-year-old child.

Episodes featured in the new season of I AM HOMICIDE include:

    “What the Toddler Saw”
Season Two Premiere: Tuesday, June 6 at 10/9c

When a young mother is ambushed and shot dead in the driveway of her home, Det. Garry McFadden’s best witness may be a three-year-old child – the victim’s son, who gives the detective a cryptic but crucial clue.

    “Stalker or Lover?”
    Tuesday, June 13 at 10/9c

A mobile home is set on fire to conceal the deadly secret inside: the body of a woman who’s been strangled. The victim’s distraught husband puts Det. Garry McFadden on the trail of a mysterious stalker who may be to blame. But the trail leads the investigator in an unexpected direction and into a mystery that can only be solved when he learns how to interpret the secrets contained in the flames themselves.

    “Holy Terror”
    Tuesday, June 20 at 10/9c

In a rough part of town, a woman’s body is discovered beaten and then shot to death. Det. Garry McFadden discovers that the victim, Candace Clay, comes from a good family, but his search for a killer reveals secrets that might have gotten her killed. As he zeroes in on a suspect, McFadden finds himself at odds with a family that seems to be hiding a killer behind church doors.

    “A Promise Kept”
    Tuesday, June 27 at 10/9c

Early in his career as a homicide detective, Garry McFadden is assigned to investigate an apparent robbery-gone-bad at a fast food restaurant in which an assistant manager, Andrew Ray, is killed. As he learns more about the victim, the path to the killer becomes clearer, while the emotional connection McFadden discovers he has with Ray’s family grows stronger.

    “Hit and Run”
    Tuesday, July 11 at 10/9c

Det. Garry McFadden is assigned to conduct what he thinks will be a routine investigation of a man injured in a hit-and-run auto accident. But when the victim, Phillip Lee, unexpectedly dies, McFadden discovers the shocking truth: it was no accident; it was murder. The search for Lee’s killer takes McFadden in unexpected directions in search of a suspect who proves to be an expert at playing hide-and-go-seek.

    “The Body In The Rug”
    Tuesday, July 18 at 10/9c

Det. Garry McFadden is in the midst of training the newest homicide detective in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD, who’s also its first African-American female detective, when the training is put to the test. McFadden and his inexperienced partner are assigned to the case of a woman’s body discovered in an apartment wrapped up in a blanket. Their investigation brings them face-to-face with an odd family with something to hide—something that may have led to murder.

    “Murder Becomes Personal”
    Tuesday, July 25 at 10/9c

Det. Garry McFadden finds it hard to separate his personal feelings from doing his job when a friend is killed. Murder victim Latisha Robinson’s mother, Vicki, is also friendly with McFadden, and he vows to find her justice. His investigation hits a frustrating dead end, but DNA test results finally give him the answers he needs—answers that, like the crime itself, hit close to home.

    “The Long Night”
    Tuesday, August 8 at 10/9c

When Det. Garry McFadden agrees to do a favor for a witness in one of his cases, he finds himself involved in a strange murder investigation that plays out over one of the longest nights of his career, leading to an unexpected killer.

    “Kross Kountry Kriminal”
    Tuesday, August 15 at 10/9c

Det. Garry McFadden must delve into the dark world of white supremacy in order to take down a slippery murder suspect who flees town and leads the investigator on a cross-country manhunt.

    “Two Sides of Charlotte”
    Tuesday, August 22 at 10/9c

The quiet beauty of Knickerbocker Drive in an “old money” neighborhood of Southeast Charlotte is shattered when an elderly resident is brutally attacked while coming home from church. Mildred Clontz, 92, dies from stab wounds the next day. Det. Garry McFadden’s investigation takes him from one of Charlotte’s nicest neighborhoods into some of its worst, as he tries to learn why Clontz was targeted and how her credit cards came to be used all over the “bad” side of town.

I AM HOMICIDE is produced for Investigation Discovery by Blackfin. Executive producers for Blackfin are Geno McDermott, Alexa Conway and Patrick Conway. For Investigation Discovery, Diana Sperrazza is senior executive producer, Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production, Jane Latman is executive vice president of development, Kevin Bennett is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President.

    MAGIC THEATRE ANNOUNCES CAST
OF HAN ONG’S WORLD PREMIERE PLAY GRANDEUR
    FEATURING CARL LUMBLY (ABC’S ALIAS, CBS’ CAGNEY & LACEY);
PREVIEWS BEGIN MAY 31, OPENS ON JUNE 7.

     GRANDEUR

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 25, 2017) – Magic Theatre (Loretta Greco, Artistic Director and Jaimie Mayer, Managing Director) announced today the complete cast of Han Ong’s World Premiere GRANDEUR. Previews begin on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Magic Theatre’s Fort Mason location, with a press opening on Wednesday, June 7. The production is helmed by Magic’s Artistic Director Loretta Greco. Tickets are on-sale now.

The Company is led by Carl Lumbly (ABC’s Alias, CBS’ Cagney & Lacey) as “Gil Scott-Heron,” and features Safiya Fredericks as “Julie Toussaint” and Rafael Jordan as “Steve Barron.”

GRANDEUR imagines a meeting between an ambitious young journalist and the shape-shifting music legend, Gil Scott-Heron. Questions of legacy, art, hope, and redemption drive this funny and gut-wrenching exchange. It’s a homecoming for MacArthur Genius award winner Han Ong, who returns to Magic after a 25-year hiatus.

“In 1992 Han Ong made his professional debut at Magic in 1992 with Reasons to Live,” said Artistic Director Loretta Greco, who is directing GRANDEUR. “So, it is serendipitous that after a sojourn from the theater (in order to write his wonderful novels) he is returning home to Magic with his first play in 16 years! GRANDEUR is a stunning-- powerful ride; both wickedly funny and poignant in its social relevance, we are honored to be premiering it. GRANDEUR provides the rare opportunity to spend an evening with the shape-shifting titan of music: the great Gil Scott Heron (played with gusto by the exceptional Carl Lumbly). Just as Diebenkorn chasing the tail of Matisse has captured our collective imagination, Han has doggedly trailed and lovingly reassembled another artist of color’s rise and fall in order to evoke perspective on some of life’s larger questions and to leave a more intricate and complicated tale which asks us to reconsider what constitutes a man’s worth.”

In addition to Mr. Ong and Ms. Greco, the creative team includes Hana S. Kim (Scenic / Video Design), Alex Jaeger (Costume Design), Raymond Oppenheimer (Lighting Design), Sara Huddleston (Sound Design) and Jackie Scott (Props Design). Magic Theatre is located in the Marina District of San Francisco, at the historic Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture (Fort Mason, 2 Marina Blvd., Building D, 3rd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94123). The entrance to Fort Mason is at the intersection of Marina Blvd and Buchanan Street. The performance schedule is Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday – Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. There is no Tuesday performance during Previews, and there will be two additional 2:30 p.m. performances (on Saturday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 14). There will be a Salon with the Director and Playwright following the 2:30 p.m. performance on Sunday, June 4, and Friday post-show Talkbacks with the actors following the 8:00 p.m. performances on June 9, June 16 and June 23. Tickets, priced from $35.00 to $75.00, are available online at MagicTheatre.org; by calling Magic Theatre at (415) 441-8822; or visiting Magic Theatre’s Box Office, Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during non-performance dates. On performance dates, the Box Office is open Tuesday – Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday one hour prior to the show. For more information, visit MagicTheatre.org.

    About Magic Theatre
Now celebrating its 50th year of continuous operation, Magic Theatre is dedicated to the cultivation of bold new plays, playwrights, and audiences – and to producing explosive, entertaining, and ideologically robust stories that ask substantive questions about our place in humanity. Magic provides a nurturing yet rigorous artistic home where innovative writers can create a body of work. We believe that developing an evolved artistic vocabulary with the playwright at our side, over a long period of time, greatly improves a playwright’s chances to thrive.

From its earliest years, Magic Theatre has contributed to the richness and relevance of the national theatrical canon. Magic’s impact on the field has resonated throughout the United States beginning in the 1970’s with Sam Shepard’s early Pulitzer and Obie-award winning plays to Luis Alfaro’s world premiere of Oedipus el Rey in 2010, Taylor Mac’s groundbreaking five-hour epic The Lily’s Revenge in 2011, and Octavio Solis’s Se Llama Cristina in 2013. Under Loretta Greco’s direction, Magic is reviving and increasing playwright residencies and long-term artistic developmental efforts as it hones its focus on new play creation in concert with the playwright. 22 of the 25 new plays produced at Magic over the last five years have enjoyed extended life beyond its stage throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Magic Theatre has supported hundreds of artists since the indefatigable John Lion founded it in 1967. Michael McClure served as the first playwright in residence beginning in 1969 with his early plays. Sam Shepard cut his playwright’s teeth at Magic, starting in 1975. His seminal plays were written and premiered during his decade-long residency, including Buried Child (Pulitzer Prize, 1979), True West (both directed by Robert Woodruff), and Fool for Love. Martin Esslin, internationally renowned scholar and critic, joined the company as the first resident dramaturg in American theater in 1977, a position now integral to American new playhouses.

Soon 3, Athol Fugard, Mark O’Rowe, Nilo Cruz, Octavio Solis, Claire Chafee, Jon Robin Baitz, Paula Vogel, Anne Bogart, Stephen Belber, Basil Twist, and Rebecca Gilman are just a notable few of the formidable writers who have been a part of Magic’s history. They have been joined in recent years by many of today’s exciting playwrights, such as Taylor Mac, Linda McLean, Teresa Rebeck, Lloyd Suh, Julie Marie Myatt, Sharr White, Christina Anderson, and Luis Alfaro. Magic plays have received numerous awards, including Pulitzer Prizes and ten Obie Awards. Other honors include the Kennedy Center Award, PEN-West Awards for Drama, Bay Area Critics’ Circle Awards, Los Angeles Drama-Logue Awards, and the NAACP Image Award. Oedipus el Rey was awarded the Will Glickman Playwriting Award for 2010 and Sharr White’s Annapurna was a finalist for the 2012 Steinberg/ACTA New Play Award.

    Whose Streets?

    Whose Streets

Told by the activists and leaders who live and breathe this movement for justice, Whose Streets? is an unflinching look at the Ferguson uprising. When unarmed teenager Michael Brown is killed by police and left lying in the street for hours, it marks a breaking point for the residents of St. Louis, Missouri. Grief, long-standing racial tensions and renewed anger bring residents together to hold vigil and protest this latest tragedy. Empowered parents, artists, and teachers from around the country come together as freedom fighters. As the national guard descends on Ferguson with military grade weaponry, these young community members become the torchbearers of a new resistance. Filmmakers Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis know this story because they are the story. Whose Streets? is a powerful battle cry from a generation fighting, not for their civil rights, but for the right to live.

GHOSTS GET THE LAST LAUGH WHEN THE GHOST BROTHERS RETURN FOR AN ALL-NEW SEASON ON TLC

The GHOST BROTHERS are back! Season 2 that follows TV’s first black ghost hunting team kicks off on Friday at 9/8c on TLC at the historically haunted Thornhaven Manor in Indiana. Reported to house negative energy that targets men – allegedly caused by a murder victim, his family members and the murderer, himself – the guys set out to discover what the phenomena actually is…with a feline friend stirring up trouble along the way.

    The GHOST BROTHERS

TLC is ready to be scared silly, announcing a new season of GHOST BROTHERS premiering during its Friday night supernatural strand. Featuring TV’s first African American ghost hunters, Dalen Spratt, Juwan Mass, and Marcus Harvey are budding paranormal enthusiasts on a mission to find out if legendary haunted locations are the real deal. These charismatic characters blend natural curiosity with comedic flair, bringing humor and good manners to the spirit world. With eight episodes, season 2 of GHOST BROTHERS premieres Friday, March 10 at 9/8c on TLC.

The GHOST BROTHERS take a passionate hobby to the next level investigating historically haunted and often abandoned locations, testing their own spirit along the way. All raised in religious households, the GHOST BROTHERS were taught that “messing” with the dead is dangerous business, but some unexplained experiences of their own drove them to find out firsthand just how spooky the supernatural can be. Dalen, Juwan and Marcus enlist local historians and caretakers to provide the history of the property to better understand what they are facing. When night falls, viewers join the antics of their afterlife investigation as the trio uses local experts, investigative equipment, trigger objects, and most importantly, their southern charm, to help make contact with the other side.

In the premiere episode, the GHOST BROTHERS travel to New Castle, Indiana to investigate paranormal claims at the historic Thornhaven Manor. Reported to house negative energy that targets men – allegedly caused by a murder victim, his family members and the murderer, himself – the guys set out to discover what the phenomena actually is. Other haunted hot spots explored in the second season of GHOST BROTHERS include: a desolate sawmill nicknamed the “Mill of Death” in the bayou of Louisiana; the maze-like home of the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose; a haunted elementary school in Middletown, Ohio; the “White Witch” of Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica; and more.

Watch the new Official Trailer for I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO!

Magnolia Pictures will release I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO in theaters February 3, 2017

    Directed by Raoul Peck

In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter to his literary agent describing his next project, Remember This House. The book was to be a revolutionary, personal account of the lives and successive assassinations of three of his close friends—Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.

At the time of Baldwin’s death in 1987, he left behind only thirty completed pages of this manuscript.

Now, in his incendiary new documentary, master filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished. The result is a radical, up-to-the-minute examination of race in America, using Baldwin’s original words and flood of rich archival material. I Am Not Your Negro is a journey into black history that connects the past of the Civil Rights movement to the present of #BlackLivesMatter. It is a film that questions black representation in Hollywood and beyond. And, ultimately, by confronting the deeper connections between the lives and assassination of these three leaders, Baldwin and Peck have produced a work that challenges the very definition of what America stands for.

Breaking Glass Pictures is proud to announce the release of the urban crime drama UNDERGROUND KINGS On Demand and DVD this February.

Starring Christopher Mann (“Loving”, “The Wire”), John Canada Terrell (“The Five Heartbeats”, “She’s Gotta Have It”), and Tiffany E. While working undercover in Harrisburg, PA, officer Jayson Wylie is shot and left for dead during a botched drug bust. His partner, Noah Carter, learns from a DEA agent investigating Carter’s wife’s death due to a drug overdose that Wylie’s shooting was a setup.

Philadelphia Police Lieutenant Jack Wilcox, an advisor to the Harrisburg Police Department's Narcotics Division, is responsible for the shooting. His tip to Smooth, one of Philadelphia's largest crime bosses, allows Smooth’s enforcers to prepare for the bust and target Wylie.

“The Haves and the Have Nots” continues to heat up as Hanna (Crystal. R Fox), the moral conscience, is tested like never before. Hanna and her son, Benny, (Tyler Lepley) are stripped of everything they have once Candace's (Tika Sumpter) latest hustle fails miserably. In the premiere episode, Veronica (Angela Robinson) is stunned after Katheryn (Renee Lawless) lashes out in anger.

Most recently, the season finale of “The Haves and the Have Nots” (9/6/16) delivered 4.1 million viewers P2+ in Live+3 and ranked as the night’s #1 cable telecast across women. The series consistently ranks as Tuesday night’s #1 original cable series among women 25-54 and women 18+ as well as primetime’s #1 original series among African-American women and total viewers.

“The Haves and the Have Nots” is created, written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry and is produced for OWN by Tyler Perry Studios.

    About Tyler Perry Studios
Tyler Perry Studios (TPS) was formed by actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry in the fall of 2008. The studio develops and produces motion picture films, in addition to drama and comedy television programming for the multi-platform U.S. television market. The 200,000 square foot studio lot is situated on the former Delta Airlines campus of more than 30 acres in the Greenbriar area of southwest Atlanta. The studio consists of five sound stages, a post production facility, a pond, a back lot, a 400-seat theater, a private screening room, and designated areas for entertaining and hosting events. Since its opening, Perry and the studio’s 400 Atlanta-based employees have been hard at work in production of over fifteen films and five television series, with over 90 total episodes per year. In 2015 TPS announced plans to expand operations with the acquisition of Fort McPherson, adding another 330 acres to create another major movie production studio lot.

     WELCOME TO SWEETIE PIEs

NEW SEASON OF “WELCOME TO SWEETIE PIE’S” RETURNS ON OWN: OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19

     WELCOME TO SWEETIE PIEs

LOS ANGELES – Soul food entrepreneur and matriarch Miss Robbie Montgomery, her son Tim Norman and their vibrant family are returning to OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on Saturday, November 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT for another family drama-fueled season of the NAACP Image Award-winning docu-series, “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s.” Produced by Pilgrim Media Group, the series follows the fun-loving, musical Montgomery family through their highs and lows as they work to expand their soul food empire.

On an all-new season, the family experiences a devastating tragedy when they learn of the senseless murder of Miss Robbie’s grandson, Andre, forcing them to reflect on other dark moments from the family’s past. Tim also revisits the prison where he was incarcerated for 10 years, and Miss Robbie joins him “behind the wall” to witness first-hand the shocking reality her son experienced at the young age of 17.

     WELCOME TO SWEETIE PIEs

Meanwhile, as Miss Robbie and Tim continue to expand the Sweetie Pie’s brand, they don’t always see eye-to-eye on the best approach. And after 30 years, Miss Robbie revives her music career, this time doing it her way with exciting opportunities on the horizon. As always – amid personal tragedy, legal turmoil and new ventures – the Sweetie Pie’s family manages to find strength, love and humor throughout their journey.

“Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” is produced by Pilgrim Media Group. Executive producers are Craig Piligian, Melodie Calvert, Robbie Montgomery, Tim Norman, Jeff Keane, Tim Breitbach and Steve Luebbert.

    About Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s
When Robbie Montgomery’s lung collapsed, the 1960’s backup singer and former Ikette had to hustle to keep her family afloat, so she whipped out her mother’s recipes and turned her second love—cooking, into a soul food empire. Today, with five locations and counting across St. Louis and Los Angeles, Miss Robbie and her son Tim are hoping to bring their brand to the masses.

    Lovie Simone

    LOVIE SIMONE
    Bio

Actress Lovie Simone plays Zora Greenleaf, the daughter of Kerissa (Kim Hawthorne) and Jacob Greenleaf (Lamman Rucker), on OWN’s new drama series Greenleaf.

Recent credits include the feature film Monster (2017) directed by Anthony Mandler, Orange Is The New Black, several commercials and voiceovers. Lovie is a twin, and a proud older Sister to a younger Brother, Sister and their adorable Morkie ‘Ziggy’.

    About Greenleaf
The OWN drama series “Greenleaf,” from award-winning writer/producer Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Six Feet Under,” “Brothers and Sisters”) and executive producers Oprah Winfrey and Clement Virgo (“The Book of Negroes”), takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful.

"Greenleaf” centers on the journey of estranged daughter and disillusioned preacher Grace “Gigi” Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge, “The Night Shift”) who has returned home after 20 years on the occasion of the mysterious death of her sister, Faith. As she reenters the world of Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, the Memphis megachurch run by her powerful parents Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David, “Community”) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Golden Globe nominee and Emmy award-winner Lynn Whitfield, “The Josephine Baker Story”), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds. Oprah Winfrey guest stars in a recurring role as Mavis McCready, the sister of Lady Mae Greenleaf and a close confidante to Grace Greenleaf.

“Greenleaf” is produced for OWN by Lionsgate in association with Harpo Films and Pine City.
