INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY’S ALL-NEW SERIES I AM HOMICIDE DIGS INTO THE CASE FILES OF ONE OF AMERICA’S MOST DEDICATED DETECTIVES

Season Two of IDs top-rated podcast DETECTIVE launches on June 7 on iTunes

    DETECTIVE

(Silver Spring, Md.) – When the streets talk, he listens. Where a crime scene has already been picked over, he can see things everyone else missed. Meet homicide detective Garry McFadden, the focus of Investigation Discovery’s all-new original series I AM HOMICIDE. After nearly three decades with the Charlotte Police Department, Det. McFadden has solved more than 700 homicide cases, resulting in a 90-percent success rate with the investigations he pursues. But his work doesn’t stop at protecting and serving the community of Charlotte. Chances are that when a call comes in, he knows the victim, the family, or even the perpetrator, because he has made it his mission to be one with the people of Charlotte, operating his investigations out of a local diner instead of the police precinct so he can truly get to know residents across the city and gain their confidence. Det. McFadden uses his street smarts to work the neighborhood networks and gather critical information for leads, at times risking his life by trusting the streets he calls home. I AM HOMICIDE world premieres Tuesday, June 14 at 10/9c only on Investigation Discovery.

During each one-hour episode, Det. McFadden opens his case files to reveal how his unorthodox investigation methods helped solve one of the most precarious cases of his career. Using recreations, archival footage and revisiting the scenes of his most renowned cases, McFadden will take you behind the curtain on the cases that not only defined his career but the community he lives in. He will go anywhere, talk to anyone, and follow any lead with or without backup assistance – all the while wearing the best suits in town. And, after thirty-five years on the force, retirement be damned, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Fans can also take a deeper dive each week when Investigation Discovery's top-rated podcast, DETECTIVE, returns on June 7 for an all-new season featuring Det. McFadden. In each weekly installment of DETECTIVE, McFadden goes into detail about topics including his decorated career, cases that haunt him today, the legacy he wants to leave in Charlotte and his belief that community-based policing could diffuse contentious relations between law enforcement and the people they vow to protect.

    I AM HOMICIDE EPISODES INCLUDE:

From the Gridiron to the Grave - Tuesday, June 14 at 10pm ET
High School football star Travis Davis is gunned down in the Queen City, sending detective Garry McFadden on the hunt for justice. McFadden discovers a beef from the street might be the lead that sends him straight to his killer.

The Crossroads - Tuesday, June 21 at 10pm ET
When a warm-hearted waitress is gunned down in a carjacking gone wrong, Detective McFadden must work fast. But this manhunt will last many years.

Serial Shooter - Tuesday, June 28 at 10pm ET
When a beloved tennis star is shot in the back after attending a charity ball, Detective McFadden must determine who could have had it in for such a seemingly faultless golden boy.

Philadelphia Freedom - Tuesday, July 5 at 10pm ET
When a nursing student is pulled from her smoldering home, Detective McFadden must confront her lover, ex-boyfriend, and best friend - to uncover who lit the match.

Boiling Point - Tuesday, July 12 at 10pm ET
A wealthy power-couple’s marriage is in shambles. When the husband reports killing his wife in self-defense, it’s up to Detective McFadden to prove, against long odds and high-priced attorneys, that this influential citizen is a cold-blooded killer.

Home Improvement - Tuesday, July 19 at 10pm ET
When a female professional suddenly vanishes, her family and friends are baffled. Two weeks later, a body is discovered along a highway in another county. It carries subtle clues that could lead Detective Garry McFadden right to the killer’s door.

After 27 years of catching killers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina Police Department, Detective Garry McFadden tried to retire, but it didn’t last a month. Being a detective is in his DNA. During his tenure, Detective McFadden and his team worked over 800 homicide cases.

(BPRW) MOTHERHOOD GETS REAL ASPIRE PRESENTS A COMEDIC AND UNCENSORED PERSPECTIVE ON FAMILY AND MOTHERHOOD WITH THE PREMIERE OF “MOMMY UNCENSORED”

A SPECIAL TV PRESENTATION BASED ON THE POPULAR WEB SERIES PREMIERES ON MOTHER’S DAY,

    Sunday, May 8 at 8 p.m. EDT

    MOMMY UNCENSORED

ATLANTA – April 22, 2016 – Mothers everywhere – this one is especially for you! The award-winning hit web comedy series “Mommy Uncensored” comes to television in a new, original special presentation. “Mommy Uncensored,” a hilarious and real series that gives a unique perspective on family and motherhood from a relatable and unique stay-at-home mom, will premiere on Mother’s Day at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, exclusively on ASPiRE.

Shot in Atlanta, “Mommy Uncensored” stars and is created and executive produced by Charity Jordan (Selma). Jordan’s husband Justin Jordan is co-creator and editor. The series also stars Rod “Reemo” Thomas (Drumline, “Stomp the Yard”), actress and blues vocalist Theresa Hightower and the Jordan’s real-life children. Director is actress and producer Terri J. Vaughn (“The Steve Harvey Show,” Girlfriend’s Getaway), who makes her series directorial debut.

Birthed from real life mommy experiences, “Mommy Uncensored” chronicles Karen Wright’s (Charity Jordan) unpredictable and unorthodox journey as a former career woman to stay-at-home mom. The series intimately captures Karen’s everyday situations as she tries to balance being a mother to two charismatic little girls, all while trying to keep the spice in her marriage. Her fun, loving, and oftentimes romantic husband Neil (Rod Thomas), who is equally devoted to their children, supports his wife’s new role and contributes, as best he can, to all of the parenting responsibilities. Karen’s mother Momma Dukes (Theresa Hightower), who is very traditional and a bit of a worry wart, adds humor to the family dynamics. Hilarity ensues as Karen shares her inner feelings and insecurities confessional-style in the one place she can find refuge, or so she thinks, in her bathroom. Everything from sex, to mommy time, to super mom undertakings are explored in the special television presentation.

“ASPiRE is the network committed to delivering content with authentic portrayals of the Black and urban experience that is always entertaining. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ does just that and more,” said Melissa Ingram, vice president, channel operations and business affairs, ASPiRE. ”We’re delighted to bring this super funny, witty and extremely relatable show to ASPiRE. We promise that viewers will laugh-out-loud as they experience family and parenting like never before - from the vantage point of a loving, fun and young urban family.”

“Parenting is a huge endeavor and that changes your entire life,” said Jordan. “When I became a mother I felt alone in my journey and looked around for support. It became clear to me that there was little that focused on motherhood from a mother’s point of view and even less that featured an African-American family. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ was born because I wanted to give parents an outlet to be empowered through laughter by watching a realistic perspective of parenting. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ is funny, real, and provides an outlet for every mom and dad who has felt the pressure of cashing in their cool points for onesies. We take pride in creating a show that the whole family can enjoy and are extremely pleased that ASPiRE is bringing our labor of love to a broader audience.”

“I love comedy and having the opportunity to direct a comedic female lead in a half-hour comedy show is my dream job,” said Vaughn. “The series is relevant to every member of the family, especially mothers. We can relate to Karen, the super mom, who gets the job done in her own whacky way. It is thought-provoking, fresh and so funny!”

“Mommy Uncensored: Confessions of a Real Life Mom” was launched as a web series in 2012. “Mommy Uncensored” was awarded Best Web series by the Hollywood Black Film Festival and the BronzeLens Festival in 2013.

ASPiRE presents an ArtistDirector Media production. Created by Charity Jordan and Justin Jordan. Executive produced by Charity Jordan. Directed by Terri J. Vaugh. Edited by Justin Jordan.

Los Angeles – OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network unveiled today a first look at its new original drama series “Greenleaf” from Lionsgate TV and Emmy-nominated writer/producer Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Six Feet Under,” “Brothers and Sisters”). Featuring Oprah Winfrey’s first recurring scripted television role in two decades, the family drama set against the backdrop of a sprawling Memphis megachurch will launch with a two-night premiere on Tuesday, June 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and Wednesday, June 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN. The series will regularly air on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT for the remainder of its 13-episode first season.

“Greenleaf” centers on the journey of estranged daughter and disillusioned preacher Grace Greenleaf (Merle Dandridge, “The Night Shift”) who has returned home after 20 years on the occasion of the mysterious death of her sister, Faith. As she reenters the world of Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, the Memphis megachurch run by her powerful parents Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David, “Enlisted” and “Community”) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Lynn Whitfield, “The Josephine Baker Story”), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds.

In the season premiere, directed by executive producer Clement Virgo (“The Book of Negroes”), Grace and her teenage daughter Sophia (Desiree Ross, “Falling Skies”) are warmly welcomed home by Grace’s father, Bishop Greenleaf. Sparked by Grace’s return to Memphis, tensions quickly rise. At a family dinner in the Greenleaf mansion, Grace’s mother is cold and hostile. Her sister-in-law Kerissa (Kim Hawthorne, “Rake”) questions her about her faith and sister Charity (Deborah Joy Winans, “Whitney”) erupts with jealousy at the suggestion that Grace might start preaching at Calvary.

Later, Grace’s Aunt Mavis (Oprah Winfrey, “Selma”) discusses with her the circumstances of Faith’s death and reveals some shocking information about Grace’s Uncle “Mac” (Gregory Alan Williams, “Terminator Genisys”). Mavis is still estranged from the Greenleaf family and it becomes evident that she intends to use Grace to sow the seeds of its destruction.

    About “Greenleaf”
The new original drama series “Greenleaf” from award-winning writer/producer Craig Wright (“Lost,” “Six Feet Under,” “Brothers and Sisters”) takes viewers into the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family and their sprawling Memphis megachurch, where scandalous secrets and lies are as numerous as the faithful. Born of the church, the Greenleaf family love and care for each other, but beneath the surface lies a den of iniquity -- greed, adultery, sibling rivalry and conflicting values -- that threatens to tear apart the very core of their faith that holds them together. “Greenleaf” stars Merle Dandridge (“The Night Shift”) as Grace Greenleaf; Keith David (“Community”) as Bishop James Greenleaf; Lynn Whitfield (“The Josephine Baker Story”) as Lady Mae Greenleaf; Kim Hawthorne (“Rake”) as Kerissa Greenleaf; Lamman Rucker (“Meet the Browns”) as Jacob Greenleaf; Tye White (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”) as Kevin Satterlee; Deborah Joy Winans (“Whitney”) as Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee; Desiree Ross (“Falling Skies”) as Sophia; and Oprah Winfrey (“Selma”) in a recurring role as Mavis McCready. “Greenleaf” is produced for OWN by Lionsgate Television. Executive producers are Oprah Winfrey, Craig Wright and Clement Virgo.

(BPRW) TV One Launches New Brand Identity Evolving Network in a Bold, New Way

TV One Launches New Brand Identity

(Black PR Wire) SILVER SPRING, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Building on a strong legacy, TV One, the network dedicated to Black viewers, is introducing a new brand promise to REPRESENT the best of Black culture and entertainment – past, present and future. During the network’s live telecast of the 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards on Friday, Feb. 5, 8 p.m. ET, TV One will be re-presented to viewers in a bold, new way. The look, feel, design, as well as the network’s new tagline, “REPRESENT” will reiterate the channel’s commitment to truly offer the most engaging Black entertainment experience.

“We have a vision of the future that can only be achieved by defying expectations. Our new brand identity will underscore the importance of re-presenting and re-imagining ourselves to our viewers with a call to action that will catapult us into the future in a fresh new way,” said Brad Siegel, President of TV One. “From representing black greatness with our live telecast of the 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards, to being on the forefront of news issues in the Black community with News One Now, to new original reality and scripted series The Next: 15 and Here We Go Again, our goal is to raise the bar on entertainment offerings reflecting the beautiful and strong diversity within Black culture.”

“We are committed to delivering on what consumers are demanding and what is missing in entertainment – a more balanced representation of stories and black images that exist in today’s culture,” said Lori Hall, SVP, Marketing when asked why TV One chose “REPRESENT” as its new tagline. “Distilled into one word, we are able to signal to viewers everywhere that we are authentic, not contrived, honest and real. It is a fresh new brand promise people can believe in because they know what it means to represent as a single-word statement. Within ‘represent’ is the word ‘re-present’ and this is also a core part of our brand promise.”

“We will put great stories first, connecting and entertaining through emotion,” said D’Angela Proctor, SVP, Original Programming and Production. “We will be brave with our storytelling, elevating new voices and investing in people who have something to say. We will deliver on programs our audience craves and deserves. Our first-ever Change Agents: History in the Making short films and our American Black Film Festival Screenplay Competition are perfect examples of how we are finding and elevating new voices and talent.”

In addition to a comprehensive creative overhaul of the network’s on-air and off-air brand elements, such as the tagline, logo, promos and its website, TV One is dedicated to producing high-quality, well-rounded Black content across a variety of genres. From signature series (Unsung, Unsung Hollywood), popular reality series (Hollywood Divas, Rickey Smiley For Real), highly-rated true crime series (Fatal Attraction, For My Man, Justice By Any Means), original comedies (Born Again Virgin, Here We Go Again), daily news (News One Now), to original movies (The Miki Howard Story, Definitely Divorcing) and specials (47th Annual NAACP Image Awards, Triumph Awards), the network remains committed to producing and developing a robust and impressive slate of smart and entertaining original programming.

For a sneak peek of TV One’s new brand identity, check out the following promos below. More information about TV One’s upcoming programming is also available on the network’s companion website at www.tvone.tv and viewers can join the conversation by connecting via social media on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook (@tvonetv) and using the hash tags #TVOneRepresent and #Represent.

    About TV One:
Launched in January 2004, TV One (www.tvone.tv) serves 57 million households, offering a broad range of real-life and entertainment-focused original programming, classic series, movies and music designed to entertain, inform and inspire a diverse audience of adult Black viewers. The network is the exclusive home of News One Now, the only live daily news program targeting Black viewers. In December 2008, the company launched TV One High Def, which now serves 14 million households. TV One is solely owned by Radio One [NASDAQ: ROIA and ROIAK, www.radio-one.com], the largest radio company that primarily targets Black and urban listeners.
