Los Angeles – An all-new season of OWN’s award-winning series “Iyanla: Fix My Life” will return with an emotional four-part, multi-week episode when spiritual life coach Iyanla Vanzant invites eight women to move into a “House of Healing” to dispel the myth of the “Angry Black Woman” and address the misperceptions sometimes associated with African American women, their behavior and ultimately their cultural identity. “Iyanla: Fix My Life” premieres on Saturday, September 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

In the four-part season premiere (airing Sept. 10, 17, 24 and Oct. 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT each week), Iyanla aims to prove that the “Angry Black Woman” stereotype is inaccurate, untrue and dangerous. The women, who struggle with abusive pasts and abandonment, are provided with the opportunity to be heard, as together with Iyanla, they examine their feelings and misguided pain in order to move past these underlying issues and create positive patterns of communication.

Later in the season, Iyanla travels to Atlanta to visit the Henry family as they deal with a father who is often not present, leaving the family for days at a time. While he is gone, his wife is aware her husband is likely involved in drugs and sex. Iyanla works with the couple and their daughters to explore the effects of childhood wounds, silent agreements and codependency.

Iyanla also works with Powerball winner Marie Holmes. After winning 188 million dollars and overwhelmed by the pressures of her fortune, life for the mother of four has been in complete shambles. Adding to the pressure is Marie’s fiancé, Lamar. After multiple arrests, Marie has spent more than 20 million dollars to bail Lamar out of jail. With Lamar’s 10-year sentence just 48 hours away, Iyanla visits Marie’s palatial estate to help Marie cope with her new fortune before she loses it all.

Iyanla also returns to the “House of Healing” in future episodes with six African American men struggling with broken spirits and broken hearts. The men—which include a man attempting to build a life for himself after numerous stints in jail to a former singer who struggles with feelings of abandonment to a father looking to mend a relationship with his famous socialite daughter—are struggling with their identities due to the effects of feeling criminalized, dehumanized and victimized by society. In three groundbreaking episodes, Iyanla will explore each man’s story and reject the narrow parameters society uses to define manhood, and to also help each define themselves in ways that honor their strengths, culture and relationship to society.

“Iyanla: Fix My Life” is produced by PIGEON for OWN with executive producers Paul Harrison (“Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s”) and Iyanla Vanzant.

    Charles Burnett’s
    To Sleep with Anger

New digital restoration screens in a weeklong exclusive engagement with Burnett in person, September 9-15

“A singular filmmaker...the foremost storyteller of African-American lives.” —Melissa Anderson, The Village Voice

    To Sleep with Anger

Charles Burnett became known to world cinema when his 1978 UCLA thesis film, Killer of Sheep, won the Critics’ Prize at the 1981 Berlin Film Festival. His legendary reputation among cinephiles never quite segued into mainstream recognition, even though his 1990 drama To Sleep with Anger is one of the finest films about the black experience in modern America. Written and directed by Burnett, the film is novelistic in its narrative density and rich characterization.

Danny Glover stars as Harry Mention, a mysterious drifter from the South who visits an old acquaintance (Paul Butler), now leading a middle-class life with his family in South Central Los Angeles. Though imbued with charm and traditional manners, Harry has a knack for mischief that creates powerful rifts throughout the family. Burnett’s overlooked masterpiece connects the past to the present in emotionally resonant ways, making this film as imaginative and insightful as his debut feature.

Winner of Sundance’s Special Jury Prize and the National Society of Film Critics’ Best Screenplay award, To Sleep with Anger played to great acclaim at the 28th New York Film Festival, and returns to the Film Society in a beautiful digital restoration created from the original negative. Burnett will appear in person for opening weekend and will also present a special screening of The Glass Shield (1994), a powerful indictment of the racist power structure of the LAPD, starring Ice Cube as a man wrongfully convicted of murder.

FANDANGO TRANSFORMS MOVIE PLANNING AND TICKET BUYING WITH INNOVATIONS FOR iOS 10

Moviegoers can discover movies, find theaters and showtimes and buy tickets with Apple Pay all within Messages in iOS 10

WWDC 2016/SAN FRANCISCO -- JUNE 13, 2016 – Fandango, the nation’s leading digital network for all things movies, is tapping new Apple innovations to make movie discovery, planning and ticket buying faster and easier than ever before, through game-changing new features for Messages, Notifications and Apple Pay. Fandango’s transformative new innovations are being unveiled today at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

“Fandango has worked for nearly a decade on new ways to enhance and simplify the moviegoing experience for Apple users, and we’re thrilled to introduce what we think is the ultimate social commerce solution for moviegoers – truly a first-of-its-kind product,” said Fandango President Paul Yanover. “With Fandango in Messages, we’ll be able to quickly activate people’s desire to see a movie with friends and family and get them ready for the theater by easily purchasing tickets, all with a few taps within their Messages conversation.”

Whether moviegoers are planning a movie night out as a couple or with a group of friends, Fandango's latest innovation for Messages will take the group from intent to ticket without ever leaving the conversation. The experience naturally mirrors how moviegoers communicate with friends or a spouse to plan a movie night out.

Within Messages, moviegoers simply tap on the Fandango icon to discover new movies, search for showtimes at nearby theaters, select the best movie option and buy tickets, all within their conversation. To simplify the process even more, moviegoers can expedite their checkout with Apple Pay, allowing them to make an easy, secure and private ticket purchase with a single touch.

Leveraging Apple’s 3D Touch technology for Notifications, Fandango will give moviegoers the ability to discover new movies, immerse themselves in a trailer, buy tickets for an upcoming blockbuster, access an existing ticket, rate and review a movie after the theater -- all from the lock screen on their phone. All it takes is a hard press of a Notification message from Fandango to instantly access all the desired functionality.

Since Apple Pay launched on the Fandango iOS app in 2015, it has been widely popular with Fandango moviegoers, as it has dramatically simplified and streamlined the process of buying a movie ticket. Starting this fall, Fandango will build on its success and extend Apple Pay to the web, so moviegoers can make easy, secure and private payments for tickets in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac with a single touch.

For nearly a decade, Fandango has worked to create market-leading apps and experiences for moviegoers, for iOS devices, Siri, Apple Wallet and Apple Watch. Currently, more than 60% of Fandango’s tickets are sold on mobile devices, through its award-winning app and mobile web.

    Synopsis
In Justin Tipping's feature debut Kicks, nothing is as simple as it seems. Fifteen-year-old Brandon longs for a pair of the freshest sneakers that money can buy; assuming that merely having them on his feet will help him escape the reality of being poor, neglected by the opposite sex and picked on by everyone -- even his best friends. Working hard to get them, he soon finds that the titular shoes have instead made him a target after they are promptly snatched by local hood, Flaco. Seemingly the embodiment of menace, Flaco harbors complexities of his own that will be revealed when Brandon goes on a mission to retrieve his stolen sneakers with his two best friends in tow.

Boasting a strong ensemble cast and featuring a memorable lead performance by newcomer Jahking Guillory, the film transcends a deceptively traditional hero's journey to deliver an entertaining and sobering look at the realities of inner-city life, the concept of manhood and the fetishization of sneaker culture. Visually and thematically rich, with an amazing soundtrack of both hip-hop classics and Bay Area favorites, Kicks creates an authentic and original portrait of a young man drowning in the expectations of machismo.

INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY’S ALL-NEW SERIES I AM HOMICIDE DIGS INTO THE CASE FILES OF ONE OF AMERICA’S MOST DEDICATED DETECTIVES

Season Two of IDs top-rated podcast DETECTIVE launches on June 7 on iTunes

    DETECTIVE

(Silver Spring, Md.) – When the streets talk, he listens. Where a crime scene has already been picked over, he can see things everyone else missed. Meet homicide detective Garry McFadden, the focus of Investigation Discovery’s all-new original series I AM HOMICIDE. After nearly three decades with the Charlotte Police Department, Det. McFadden has solved more than 700 homicide cases, resulting in a 90-percent success rate with the investigations he pursues. But his work doesn’t stop at protecting and serving the community of Charlotte. Chances are that when a call comes in, he knows the victim, the family, or even the perpetrator, because he has made it his mission to be one with the people of Charlotte, operating his investigations out of a local diner instead of the police precinct so he can truly get to know residents across the city and gain their confidence. Det. McFadden uses his street smarts to work the neighborhood networks and gather critical information for leads, at times risking his life by trusting the streets he calls home. I AM HOMICIDE world premieres Tuesday, June 14 at 10/9c only on Investigation Discovery.

During each one-hour episode, Det. McFadden opens his case files to reveal how his unorthodox investigation methods helped solve one of the most precarious cases of his career. Using recreations, archival footage and revisiting the scenes of his most renowned cases, McFadden will take you behind the curtain on the cases that not only defined his career but the community he lives in. He will go anywhere, talk to anyone, and follow any lead with or without backup assistance – all the while wearing the best suits in town. And, after thirty-five years on the force, retirement be damned, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Fans can also take a deeper dive each week when Investigation Discovery's top-rated podcast, DETECTIVE, returns on June 7 for an all-new season featuring Det. McFadden. In each weekly installment of DETECTIVE, McFadden goes into detail about topics including his decorated career, cases that haunt him today, the legacy he wants to leave in Charlotte and his belief that community-based policing could diffuse contentious relations between law enforcement and the people they vow to protect.

    I AM HOMICIDE EPISODES INCLUDE:

From the Gridiron to the Grave - Tuesday, June 14 at 10pm ET
High School football star Travis Davis is gunned down in the Queen City, sending detective Garry McFadden on the hunt for justice. McFadden discovers a beef from the street might be the lead that sends him straight to his killer.

The Crossroads - Tuesday, June 21 at 10pm ET
When a warm-hearted waitress is gunned down in a carjacking gone wrong, Detective McFadden must work fast. But this manhunt will last many years.

Serial Shooter - Tuesday, June 28 at 10pm ET
When a beloved tennis star is shot in the back after attending a charity ball, Detective McFadden must determine who could have had it in for such a seemingly faultless golden boy.

Philadelphia Freedom - Tuesday, July 5 at 10pm ET
When a nursing student is pulled from her smoldering home, Detective McFadden must confront her lover, ex-boyfriend, and best friend - to uncover who lit the match.

Boiling Point - Tuesday, July 12 at 10pm ET
A wealthy power-couple’s marriage is in shambles. When the husband reports killing his wife in self-defense, it’s up to Detective McFadden to prove, against long odds and high-priced attorneys, that this influential citizen is a cold-blooded killer.

Home Improvement - Tuesday, July 19 at 10pm ET
When a female professional suddenly vanishes, her family and friends are baffled. Two weeks later, a body is discovered along a highway in another county. It carries subtle clues that could lead Detective Garry McFadden right to the killer’s door.

After 27 years of catching killers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina Police Department, Detective Garry McFadden tried to retire, but it didn’t last a month. Being a detective is in his DNA. During his tenure, Detective McFadden and his team worked over 800 homicide cases.

(BPRW) MOTHERHOOD GETS REAL ASPIRE PRESENTS A COMEDIC AND UNCENSORED PERSPECTIVE ON FAMILY AND MOTHERHOOD WITH THE PREMIERE OF “MOMMY UNCENSORED”

A SPECIAL TV PRESENTATION BASED ON THE POPULAR WEB SERIES PREMIERES ON MOTHER’S DAY,

    Sunday, May 8 at 8 p.m. EDT

    MOMMY UNCENSORED

ATLANTA – April 22, 2016 – Mothers everywhere – this one is especially for you! The award-winning hit web comedy series “Mommy Uncensored” comes to television in a new, original special presentation. “Mommy Uncensored,” a hilarious and real series that gives a unique perspective on family and motherhood from a relatable and unique stay-at-home mom, will premiere on Mother’s Day at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, exclusively on ASPiRE.

Shot in Atlanta, “Mommy Uncensored” stars and is created and executive produced by Charity Jordan (Selma). Jordan’s husband Justin Jordan is co-creator and editor. The series also stars Rod “Reemo” Thomas (Drumline, “Stomp the Yard”), actress and blues vocalist Theresa Hightower and the Jordan’s real-life children. Director is actress and producer Terri J. Vaughn (“The Steve Harvey Show,” Girlfriend’s Getaway), who makes her series directorial debut.

Birthed from real life mommy experiences, “Mommy Uncensored” chronicles Karen Wright’s (Charity Jordan) unpredictable and unorthodox journey as a former career woman to stay-at-home mom. The series intimately captures Karen’s everyday situations as she tries to balance being a mother to two charismatic little girls, all while trying to keep the spice in her marriage. Her fun, loving, and oftentimes romantic husband Neil (Rod Thomas), who is equally devoted to their children, supports his wife’s new role and contributes, as best he can, to all of the parenting responsibilities. Karen’s mother Momma Dukes (Theresa Hightower), who is very traditional and a bit of a worry wart, adds humor to the family dynamics. Hilarity ensues as Karen shares her inner feelings and insecurities confessional-style in the one place she can find refuge, or so she thinks, in her bathroom. Everything from sex, to mommy time, to super mom undertakings are explored in the special television presentation.

“ASPiRE is the network committed to delivering content with authentic portrayals of the Black and urban experience that is always entertaining. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ does just that and more,” said Melissa Ingram, vice president, channel operations and business affairs, ASPiRE. ”We’re delighted to bring this super funny, witty and extremely relatable show to ASPiRE. We promise that viewers will laugh-out-loud as they experience family and parenting like never before - from the vantage point of a loving, fun and young urban family.”

“Parenting is a huge endeavor and that changes your entire life,” said Jordan. “When I became a mother I felt alone in my journey and looked around for support. It became clear to me that there was little that focused on motherhood from a mother’s point of view and even less that featured an African-American family. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ was born because I wanted to give parents an outlet to be empowered through laughter by watching a realistic perspective of parenting. ‘Mommy Uncensored’ is funny, real, and provides an outlet for every mom and dad who has felt the pressure of cashing in their cool points for onesies. We take pride in creating a show that the whole family can enjoy and are extremely pleased that ASPiRE is bringing our labor of love to a broader audience.”

“I love comedy and having the opportunity to direct a comedic female lead in a half-hour comedy show is my dream job,” said Vaughn. “The series is relevant to every member of the family, especially mothers. We can relate to Karen, the super mom, who gets the job done in her own whacky way. It is thought-provoking, fresh and so funny!”

“Mommy Uncensored: Confessions of a Real Life Mom” was launched as a web series in 2012. “Mommy Uncensored” was awarded Best Web series by the Hollywood Black Film Festival and the BronzeLens Festival in 2013.

ASPiRE presents an ArtistDirector Media production. Created by Charity Jordan and Justin Jordan. Executive produced by Charity Jordan. Directed by Terri J. Vaugh. Edited by Justin Jordan.

(Black PR Wire) SILVER SPRING, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Starring as a young teacher plagued with visions, Tatyana Ali (Zoe Ever After, Love That Girl!, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) returns to TV One in the new made-for-television movie Second Sight. Premiering Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m. ET, Ali plays Clara Randall, whose gift of “prophesy” leaves her haunted by premonitions of horrific kidnappings. Despite people’s unwillingness to believe her “second sight,” Clara takes it upon herself to search for one of her students who has gone missing. Shot on location in Los Angeles, this suspenseful thriller marks the third project executive produced by Radio One Founder Cathy Hughes and Executive Vice President of Special Projects Susan Banks.

“First with horror, and now suspense, Ms. Hughes and Susan Banks have once again ushered TV One into an entirely new genre for the network,” stated D’Angela Proctor, TV One’s Head of Original Programming and Production. “Driving the network into fresh and unexplored territory is exactly what our new brand promise represents – taking chances and defying expectations.”

Living in a constant nightmare, Clara (Ali) has trouble understanding her abilities as well as convincing others – specifically her boyfriend Tony Prescott (Texas Battle, The Bold and The Beautiful) – that the visions are not just a figment of her imagination. Movie Studios Find New Ways to Fill Theater Seats

Looking back over the past few years, ticket sales have b een terrible for Hollywood – last year the industry sold the lowest number of tickets si nce 1995.

Movie Studios Find New Ways to Fill Theater Seats

According to CNNMoney, analysts are saying the disappointing results are from a combination of a week economy and home entertainment opt ions, such as Netflix and the many other on-demand providers . Viewership on TV is dismal particularly among advertisers-coveted millennials – meaning bad news for advertisers.

Movie Studios Find New Ways to Fill Theater Seats

Today the studios are trying to find new ways to fill the thea ter seats again and compel people to go to the theater more often. Studios today are finding alterna tive ways to ma rket movies beyond traditional methods like advertising on tele vision and in newspapers. It is a search that is preoccupying Hollywood, anxious to reverse a slump in ticket sales.

Movie Studios Find New Ways to Fill Theater Seats

Studios like Warner Brothers and 20 th Century Fox are using experiential mobile marketing and taking their message directly to the people by creating cross-country movie tours. Using a patented 53-foot double expandable trailer provided by Cinetransformer , a Miami based company; the trailer converts into a com plete mobile cinema, providing a unique movie going experience and the perfect partner for a nationwide tour.

The studio has capitalized on experient ial marketing while combining traditional social media marketing. Studios like Warner Brothers understand that a good film loves to be shared by others and people put out that mes sage quickly on sites like Facebook and Twitter making the process more valuable more immediate and more meaningful.

The studio screens it ’ s feature films several times per day, and provides audiences with a special sneak peek in 2D, 3D or 4D ahead of the picture ’ s release to get the word out faster and more powerfully then ever before. "There's a lot of noise out there. You have to find fresh ways to break through.

, This allows us to take our movie to our audience," says Marc Weinstock, president of domestic the atrical marketing for 20th Century Fox .

Movie Studios Find New Ways to Fill Theater Seats

Even on the highway, the trucks serve as moving billboards. And their arrival in towns across the country does create a stir. " We are getting press at every stop," says Weinstock. "It becomes an event everywhere we go ." Cinetransfomer recently announced it would be exhibiting at the upcoming Cinemacon tradeshow this April at Cesar ’ s Palace in Las Vegas .

The event will attract movie industry studios and distributors from around the world. They are encouraging attendees to stop by and learn more about it ’ s unique state of the art mobile movie cinemas.

Cinetransfomer developed and patented their 53-foot double wide expandable mo bile cinemas and operates in the United States, Mexico and Braz il.

    About Us:
Cinetransformer is a world-class experiential mobile marketing company with global reach and clients that include many of the world’s most famous brands. We also design, engineer & manufacture specialty vehicles at our state-of-the-art, highly cost-efficient manufacturing facility in Mexico.

‘12 Years a Slave’ Actress, Kelsey Scott, Joins Cast of ABC's How To Get Away With Murder as Recurring Guest Star

LOS ANGELES - March 27, 2016 - Known for her dynamic role in 12 Years A Slave, Kelsey Scott joins the cast as a recurring guest star in the midseason return of How To Get Away With Murder. In its sophomore season, this suspense-driven show focuses on a group of ambitious law students and their brilliant criminal defense professor, who become involved in a twisted murder plot that promises to change the course of their lives.

After a nearly three-month hiatus, following its mid-season finale, How To Get Away With Murder returned on February 11. Scott takes on the role of Rose (Wes' mother) in a series of flashbacks from 10 years ago. Scott joins Academy-Award nominee Viola Davis (as Professor Annalise Keating), Billy Brown (as Nate), Alfred Enoch (as Wes), Jack Falahee (as Connor), Katie Findlay (as Rebecca), Aja Naomi King (as Michaela), Matt McGorry (as Asher), Karla Souza(as Laurel), Charlie Weber (as Frank) and Liza Weil (as Bonnie).

Scott began her career in Atlanta's theatre scene, as a child. She made her foray into television as Robert Guillaume's daughter on his self-titled ABC sitcom, The Robert Guillaume Show. The exponential growth of Kelsey's credits includes a wide range of projects, such as Grey’s Anatomy, True Detective, House M.D., NCIS, Army Wives and The Young and the Restless.

Scott appeared opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor, as Anne Northup, in director Steve McQueen's Academy Award winning 12 Years A Slave.
