“The Haves and the Have Nots” is created, written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry and is produced for OWN by Tyler Perry Studios.

On an all-new season, the family experiences a devastating tragedy when they learn of the senseless murder of Miss Robbie’s grandson, Andre, forcing them to reflect on other dark moments from the family’s past. As she reenters the world of Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, the Memphis megachurch run by her powerful parents Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David, “Community”) and Lady Mae Greenleaf (Golden Globe nominee and Emmy award-winner Lynn Whitfield, “The Josephine Baker Story”), it becomes evident that things are not as virtuous as they seem and that the family’s outward display of faith hides sin and misdeeds. ABOUT: Photographer, Linda Nieves- Powell

I love being Latina and every opportunity I get to share my vision of what that means to me, I do. Whether it's in a fun novel like "FreeStyle" published by Atria/Simon & Schuster, a fun film documentary,

    Photographer | Linda Nieves- Powell

"The Bigger the Hoop", a short story, "The Fly Ass Puerto Rican Girl From the Stapleton Projects" published by Akashic Books, the award-winning play "YO SOY LATINA!" or short films like "Stereotypically Me", starring JANE THE VIRGIN star, Andrea Navedo, my intent is to fight against the one dimensional depictions often seen in media and instead show the many facets of Latina identity. The Latina Icons project is a photo tribute honoring Latina trailblazers. I believe that it's important to acknowledge the work of those who came before us in order to evaluate our progress, our evolution, and our future, as women and as Latinas. These six icons for me represent everything that Latinas have to offer: beauty, fearlessness, intelligence, innovation, talent, and cultural pride. We have it all, we are more than just stereotypes, and we will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.

ABOUT: Style Director, Model and TV personality, Rebecca Gitana Torres

My name is Rebecca Gitana Torres and I'm a Latina of Puerto Rican descent born in NYC. I'm a Home, Garden & Style expert and host of the award nominated show, Lifestyle Remix TV. I have a passion for showing people how to remix their lives by reconnecting with them with their home, and their inner knowing. The show covers topics ranging from: feng shui, clearing the clutter, and urban gardening. I also love to create content surrounding nature, personal style, and culture. I can often be found covering events as a social media reporter and interviewing celebrated people too.

Model & Style Director | Rebecca G. Torres

My goal is to create content that is full of flavor and authenticity. To preserve culture and to heal culture. I also wish to be part of expanding the scope in which Latina's contribute to the creation of media. These 6 Latina icons have all been an example of what it means for me to, "claim and take up space in the world". Each icon is is wildly brave and a game changer. It was a lot of fun to embody each and every one of them. Whether I was pulling together their looks or transforming myself on set, I found myself reflecting on that icon's individual journey and her true essence. It was truly a special and intimate experience to do so.

DRAMA TAKES CENTER STAGE IN TLC’S LITTLE MISS ATLANTA

Four-Episode Series Premieres Wednesday, October 5th at 10/9c

(Silver Spring, MD) – Welcome to Atlanta and The Little Miss Black US Pageant, where there’s only one crown and everyone is going to do whatever it takes to win. LITTLE MISS ATLANTA centers around the fiercely competitive world of children’s beauty pageants, where the kids are the stars, but the moms aren’t going down without a fight…literally. The adorable contestants and their determined mothers take the pageant world by storm in the all-new, four-episode series premiering Wednesday, October 5, at 10/9c after TLC’s popular TODDLERS & TIARAS.

Shot in Atlanta, each episode of LITTLE MISS ATLANTA follows three young African-American pageant contestants and their mothers as they prepare to compete in the intense world of pageantry. The girls, who range in age from three-years-old to 10-years-old, are always in it to win it, but their stage moms are the ones who eat, sleep and breathe pageants. Whether it’s spending $15,000 on a single competition or leaving the pageant hall in a rage, these moms will stop at nothing to make sure their daughter leaves a winner.

Jasmine Crowe and Kim Anderson co-founded The Little Miss Black US pageant after seeing a need for a national pageant system that praised African-American girls and young women to celebrate the magic within them. Jasmine, the Pageant Organizer, orchestrates every detail – from conception to execution. She handles advertising, venue selection, prizes, recruiting judges and dealing with the pushy parents. Kim, the Pageant Organizer and Coach, is a former beauty queen. She is the host, announcer and crowns the winner. During their reign, the Little Miss Black US Pageant Queens have the opportunity to win a scholarship, encourage and inspire their peers to be student and community leaders and express their talents on a national level.

In the season premiere of LITTLE MISS ATLANTA, The Little Miss Black US pageant kicks off as two rivals go head-to-head, leading to the most jaw-dropping stage exits in history. We’ll meet seven-year-old Kelsey, who is new to the pageant world, but her mom is determined to do whatever it takes to make sure her daughter wins the crown. Then, Balouy pulls out all of the stops to ensure her seven-year-old daughter, Ava, leaves a winner after experiencing a losing streak. Plus, five-year-old Sa’Nyia competes in her first-ever pageant after overcoming a life-threatening birth defect.

Who will take the title? Who will be left in tears? And, who will walk away empty handed?

    Marque Richardson
    Created by: Audra Reed

    Antoinette Robertson
    Created by: Audra Reed

    Series regulars:

  • Antoinette Robertson (The Haves and the Have Nots, Hart of Dixie) has joined Netflix's Dear White People as ‘Coco Conners,’ an Economics major and bombshell who is baffled by Winchester’s hierarchy of blackness that favors natural hair over the "good hair" she bought. Unfazed by the blackface party, Coco deplores Samantha White’s "entry level black rage" and her "self-serving" Dear White People radio show.

  • DeRon Horton (Dirt, Burning Sands) will play ‘Lionel Higgins,’ a self-proclaimed nerd, becomes an unlikely hero for being the only student journalist to write a firsthand report on the blackface party that rocks Winchester. Despite this early victory, Lionel — who is still coming to terms with his sexuality — discovers that navigating between the disparate black and gay cultures on campus is his most arduous challenge yet.

  • John Patrick Amedori (The Vatican Tapes, Hindsight) has been cast as ‘Gabe,’ Sam's intellectual equal and their debates are passionate and as heated as their secret (for now) affair. Gabe genuinely loves Sam and wants their relationship to go to the next level, but feels pushed aside in the groundswell of Sam's racially political movement.

  • Ashley Blaine Featherson (Drew, Glee) joins as ‘Joelle Brooks,’ a girl who can code switch at lightning speed and is Sam White's best friend. While smart, funny and charming, Joelle prefers to orbit Sam’s bright star instead of shining on her own, but soon starts to covet Sam’s life.

    Recurring:

  • Marque Richardson (All the Way, Step Sisters) is set to reprise the role of “Reggie” in Dear White People, recurring as the character he previously portrayed in the 2014 feature by the same name. Reggie Green is a Computer Science Major and Sam's right hand man. He's one of the more radical voices at Winchester thanks in no small part to his having been raised by a Black Panther. Often underestimated by the campus at large, Reggie uses his hyper intellect and tech smarts to make a real difference on campus as he strives to live up to the expectations of his parents.

  • Dear White People is a comedy series based on writer/director/producer Justin Simien’s critically-acclaimed, Sundance award-winning satirical indie film. The series will be produced by Lionsgate, whose sister company Roadside Attractions released the original film in 2014. The 10-episode, 30-minute series will go into production in September and will premiere on Netflix around the world in 2017.

  • Set among a diverse group of students of color as they navigate a predominantly white Ivy League college where racial tensions are often swept under the rug, Dear White People is a send up of “post-racial” America that also weaves a universal story about forging one’s own unique path.

  • Horton is represented by ICM Partners, Gallant Management and Gang, Tyre, Ramer & Brown.

  • Featherson is represented by Pantheon, Discover Management, and Darrell Miller at Fox Rothschild LLP

  • Robertson is represented by Cunningham Escott Slevin & Doherty (CESD), Luber Roklin Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman.

  • Amedori is represented by The Gersh Agency and Authentic Talent and Literary Management

Los Angeles – An all-new season of OWN’s award-winning series “Iyanla: Fix My Life” will return with an emotional four-part, multi-week episode when spiritual life coach Iyanla Vanzant invites eight women to move into a “House of Healing” to dispel the myth of the “Angry Black Woman” and address the misperceptions sometimes associated with African American women, their behavior and ultimately their cultural identity. “Iyanla: Fix My Life” premieres on Saturday, September 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

In the four-part season premiere (airing Sept. 10, 17, 24 and Oct. 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT each week), Iyanla aims to prove that the “Angry Black Woman” stereotype is inaccurate, untrue and dangerous. The women, who struggle with abusive pasts and abandonment, are provided with the opportunity to be heard, as together with Iyanla, they examine their feelings and misguided pain in order to move past these underlying issues and create positive patterns of communication.

Later in the season, Iyanla travels to Atlanta to visit the Henry family as they deal with a father who is often not present, leaving the family for days at a time. While he is gone, his wife is aware her husband is likely involved in drugs and sex. Iyanla works with the couple and their daughters to explore the effects of childhood wounds, silent agreements and codependency.

Iyanla also works with Powerball winner Marie Holmes. After winning 188 million dollars and overwhelmed by the pressures of her fortune, life for the mother of four has been in complete shambles. Adding to the pressure is Marie’s fiancé, Lamar. After multiple arrests, Marie has spent more than 20 million dollars to bail Lamar out of jail. With Lamar’s 10-year sentence just 48 hours away, Iyanla visits Marie’s palatial estate to help Marie cope with her new fortune before she loses it all.

Iyanla also returns to the “House of Healing” in future episodes with six African American men struggling with broken spirits and broken hearts. The men—which include a man attempting to build a life for himself after numerous stints in jail to a former singer who struggles with feelings of abandonment to a father looking to mend a relationship with his famous socialite daughter—are struggling with their identities due to the effects of feeling criminalized, dehumanized and victimized by society. In three groundbreaking episodes, Iyanla will explore each man’s story and reject the narrow parameters society uses to define manhood, and to also help each define themselves in ways that honor their strengths, culture and relationship to society.

“Iyanla: Fix My Life” is produced by PIGEON for OWN with executive producers Paul Harrison (“Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s”) and Iyanla Vanzant.

    Charles Burnett’s
    To Sleep with Anger

New digital restoration screens in a weeklong exclusive engagement with Burnett in person, September 9-15

“A singular filmmaker...the foremost storyteller of African-American lives.” —Melissa Anderson, The Village Voice

    To Sleep with Anger

Charles Burnett became known to world cinema when his 1978 UCLA thesis film, Killer of Sheep, won the Critics’ Prize at the 1981 Berlin Film Festival. His legendary reputation among cinephiles never quite segued into mainstream recognition, even though his 1990 drama To Sleep with Anger is one of the finest films about the black experience in modern America. Written and directed by Burnett, the film is novelistic in its narrative density and rich characterization.

Danny Glover stars as Harry Mention, a mysterious drifter from the South who visits an old acquaintance (Paul Butler), now leading a middle-class life with his family in South Central Los Angeles. Though imbued with charm and traditional manners, Harry has a knack for mischief that creates powerful rifts throughout the family. Burnett’s overlooked masterpiece connects the past to the present in emotionally resonant ways, making this film as imaginative and insightful as his debut feature.

Winner of Sundance’s Special Jury Prize and the National Society of Film Critics’ Best Screenplay award, To Sleep with Anger played to great acclaim at the 28th New York Film Festival, and returns to the Film Society in a beautiful digital restoration created from the original negative. Burnett will appear in person for opening weekend and will also present a special screening of The Glass Shield (1994), a powerful indictment of the racist power structure of the LAPD, starring Ice Cube as a man wrongfully convicted of murder.

Additionally, Emmy and multiple NAACP Image Award-winning actor Glynn Turman (“The Wire”) guest stars as Bordelon patriarch Ernest; Henry G. Sanders (“Rocky Balboa”) recurs as Prosper Denton, a farmer and longtime friend of Ernest’s, Bianca Lawson (“Rogue”) guest stars as Ralph Angel’s ex-girlfriend Darla and Marycarmen Lopez (“From Dusk ‘Til Dawn: The Series”) as Blue’s elementary school teacher.

Created for television by DuVernay, she directed the first two episodes of “Queen Sugar” and hand-picked an all-female roster of directors to helm the subsequent episodes of the series’ first season. The slate of both seasoned and emerging directing talent includes Tina Mabry (“Mississippi Damned”), Victoria Mahoney (“Yelling to the Sky”), Tanya Hamilton (“Night Catches Us”), So Yong Kim (“Lovesong,” “Treeless Mountain”), Kat Candler (“Hellion”), Salli Richardson-Whitfield (“Eureka”) and Neema Barnette (“Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day,” “Being Mary Jane”).

FANDANGO TRANSFORMS MOVIE PLANNING AND TICKET BUYING WITH INNOVATIONS FOR iOS 10

Moviegoers can discover movies, find theaters and showtimes and buy tickets with Apple Pay all within Messages in iOS 10

WWDC 2016/SAN FRANCISCO -- JUNE 13, 2016 – Fandango, the nation’s leading digital network for all things movies, is tapping new Apple innovations to make movie discovery, planning and ticket buying faster and easier than ever before, through game-changing new features for Messages, Notifications and Apple Pay. Fandango’s transformative new innovations are being unveiled today at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

“Fandango has worked for nearly a decade on new ways to enhance and simplify the moviegoing experience for Apple users, and we’re thrilled to introduce what we think is the ultimate social commerce solution for moviegoers – truly a first-of-its-kind product,” said Fandango President Paul Yanover. “With Fandango in Messages, we’ll be able to quickly activate people’s desire to see a movie with friends and family and get them ready for the theater by easily purchasing tickets, all with a few taps within their Messages conversation.”

Whether moviegoers are planning a movie night out as a couple or with a group of friends, Fandango's latest innovation for Messages will take the group from intent to ticket without ever leaving the conversation. The experience naturally mirrors how moviegoers communicate with friends or a spouse to plan a movie night out.

Within Messages, moviegoers simply tap on the Fandango icon to discover new movies, search for showtimes at nearby theaters, select the best movie option and buy tickets, all within their conversation. To simplify the process even more, moviegoers can expedite their checkout with Apple Pay, allowing them to make an easy, secure and private ticket purchase with a single touch.

Leveraging Apple’s 3D Touch technology for Notifications, Fandango will give moviegoers the ability to discover new movies, immerse themselves in a trailer, buy tickets for an upcoming blockbuster, access an existing ticket, rate and review a movie after the theater -- all from the lock screen on their phone. All it takes is a hard press of a Notification message from Fandango to instantly access all the desired functionality.

Since Apple Pay launched on the Fandango iOS app in 2015, it has been widely popular with Fandango moviegoers, as it has dramatically simplified and streamlined the process of buying a movie ticket. Starting this fall, Fandango will build on its success and extend Apple Pay to the web, so moviegoers can make easy, secure and private payments for tickets in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac with a single touch.

For nearly a decade, Fandango has worked to create market-leading apps and experiences for moviegoers, for iOS devices, Siri, Apple Wallet and Apple Watch. Currently, more than 60% of Fandango’s tickets are sold on mobile devices, through its award-winning app and mobile web.

    About Fandango
Fandango is the ultimate digital network for all things movies, serving consumers with best-in-class movie information, ticketing to more than 27,000 screens, movie trailers and original video content for movie discovery, and home entertainment. Synopsis
In Justin Tipping's feature debut Kicks, nothing is as simple as it seems. Fifteen-year-old Brandon longs for a pair of the freshest sneakers that money can buy; assuming that merely having them on his feet will help him escape the reality of being poor, neglected by the opposite sex and picked on by everyone -- even his best friends. Working hard to get them, he soon finds that the titular shoes have instead made him a target after they are promptly snatched by local hood, Flaco. Seemingly the embodiment of menace, Flaco harbors complexities of his own that will be revealed when Brandon goes on a mission to retrieve his stolen sneakers with his two best friends in tow.

Boasting a strong ensemble cast and featuring a memorable lead performance by newcomer Jahking Guillory, the film transcends a deceptively traditional hero's journey to deliver an entertaining and sobering look at the realities of inner-city life, the concept of manhood and the fetishization of sneaker culture. Visually and thematically rich, with an amazing soundtrack of both hip-hop classics and Bay Area favorites, Kicks creates an authentic and original portrait of a young man drowning in the expectations of machismo.
