INTERVIEW:

DT: Please give our readers some background info on Nisaa Showell. What are your likes, dislikes? How long you've been writing? What inspires you?
NAS: I know this may sound cliché, but I am inspired by God and my family. I have been blessed in so many ways that I have to pass those blessings along. I have been writing since grade school, third grade to be exact. I can remember turning one page writing assignments into ten page stories that were actually displayed on the bulletin board outside of my language arts class. My likes, I enjoy motivational speaking. I love to be able to uplift other individuals and give them the hope or belief that all things are possible. My dislikes, the Dallas Cowboys, what can I say I'm a Philly girl.

DT: What did you hope to accomplish with, Eternal Souls Clashin?
NAS: I really did not hope to accomplish anything, I was just writing a book. I have always had a passion for literature so when I started writing the book it was just for the joy of it. I did not expect my book to go anywhere but when I saw the reaction of the people who read the book and how they loved it, I thought that this was something that I wanted to expand on and share with the world.

DT:  What are people saying about your work? Are you surprised by reader responses?
NAS:  I am always surprised about the responses I get about my book. I love to speak with people after they have read my book and see how much they identify with the characters and what has happened in their lives. People seem to identify with the struggle for love that the main characters face. I think people understand real life has its ups and downs as does love. That's why I think the novel and its characters are so real to the people who read it. I just love when I have a person who has just gotten my book the day before come to me the next day and just talk about the book with me, what happened with the characters, and occurrences in the book. Different people are affected by different parts of the book and no matter how many people tell me they loved it I am always surprised and overjoyed that I was able to write something that can bring that feeling out in someone. It has allowed me to interact with people in a way that I never did before and that is the most enjoyable thing about my entire writing experience so far.

DT: I like the title, how did you come up with it?
NAS: Honestly, Eternal Souls Clashin was not the original title, it was going to be “Every Thug Needs A Lady.” But as we know titles are not copyrighted so the author who wrote “Thugs and The Women Who Love Them” put out a sequel to her book prior to my release and her title was also Every Thug Needs A Lady. So obviously a change had to be made, and because God is so good the change was actually for the better thanks to a good friend of mine. She and I were brainstorming one day about the title because I needed something that would capture the full essence of my "baby". She has a tattoo on her arm, sort of like a ying/yang type of thing that she said represents Eternal Souls Clashin because at the time the rap artist NAS had a song out called One Mic. And a line he says is "what do you call an infinite brawl, Eternal Souls Clashin." And it was perfect because not only are my initials NAS (Nisaa Aliyah Showell) but the consuming power of a great love is truly an infinite brawl.

DT: What's next for Nisaa Showell? Upcoming signings? Discussions? Works in Progress?
NAS: Right now I think the sky is the limit for me. I am looking to release the sequel to Eternal Souls Clasin this winter which will definitely be a special time for me. But I am looking to do bigger and better things. Right now my mind is racing with all the possibilities from a series of nutrition books, to radio, to television, to movies. I see that there are a lot of different avenues that I want to pursue and that is very new and exciting for me. So there are a lot of different thins that I do want to do in the future but one thing is for certain that you will be hearing a lot more from me in the future. I have a lot of different events that I will be attending that I would love my fans to come out and attend, The Capital Book Fest in DC in October and The Philadelphia Art Expo in Nov. So please, I would tell anyone who read my book to come out and see me, and please keep an eye out for the sequel to Eternal Souls Clashin, The Sequel The Prophecy tentative release date Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving.

DT: : Nisaa, we thank you for your time and we appreciate your talents. Blessings!
