Trending: Social Media Harmful to Relationships

Survey Reveals Not To “Follow” A New S.O.

Social media has transformed the way couples communicate. Entering a new relationship is exciting, yet fragile — according to a new survey it’s perhaps best kept offline. A survey conducted by WhatsYourPrice.com reveals people who immediately connect with a new love interest on social media are more likely to have short-lived romances.

    New York - October 5, 2016

Social media can breed jealousy and drama. Nurturing a budding romance into a lasting relationship may mean denying that friend request from your latest love interest.

Date-auction site, WhatsYourPrice.com surveyed 14,821 members on when they “friended” or “followed” the last person they were in a relationship with, and responses were divided into three groups - before the first date, immediately after the first date, and a month or more after the first date. Those three groups were then asked a follow-up question regarding how long their last relationship lasted.

In relation to your first date, when did you friend or follow your last significant other on social media? (According to 14,821 respondents)

    Before: 26%
    Immediately after: 42%
A month or more after: 32%

How long did this relationship last?

    Respondents who answered: Before
    Less than 1 month: 25%
    1 to 6 months: 34%
    6 months to 12 months: 23%
    Longer than 1 year: 18%

    Respondents who answered: Immediately after
    Less than 1 month: 42%
    1 to 6 months: 28%
    6 months to 12 months: 18%
    Longer than 1 year: 12%

Respondents who answered: A month or more after
    Less than 1 month: 18%
    1 to 6 months: 10%
    6 months to 12 months: 24%
    Longer than 1 year: 48%

Time is of the essence. A majority of respondents (42 percent) who said they connected immediately with their significant other following the first date had relationships that did not last past 30 days. If lasting love is the goal, it seems best to wait a month or more before becoming “Facebook official.”

“Developing a new love into a healthy and long term commitment means focusing on the relationship,” says Brandon Wade, CEO and founder of WhatsYourPrice.com. “Connecting with a new partner on social media can result in information overload. Allowing too much access to someone's past can create unnecessary anxieties and break an already fragile trust between new partners. Couples should think twice before opening Pandora's box and dooming their relationship from the start by connecting immediately on social media.”

WhatsYourPrice.com is a patent-pending “Dating-for-Dollars” website. The dating site allows “Generous” members to bid and pay for first dates with other users. Unlike other dating sites, dates are accepted and rejected directly on the site.

    About WhatsYourPrice.com
WhatsYourPrice was launched in April 2010, and has over 1 million members worldwide. It is the only dating website where money can buy you love, or at least a first date. The website provides a platform where Generous members can bid on a first date with an Attractive member. The website gives both types of daters an advantage in the dating market, making it The Online Dating Shortcut.

Dating in the Age of the Internet

    By Sherri Murphy
CEO and VIP Matchmaker at Elite Connections Int’l

Online dating has become the singles bar or pick-up joint of the old days. Ask anyone who's single these days, and most will say they've used on-line dating services and so have all of their friends. So if the vast majority have clicked and pointed a mouse to find love or dates, there will always be those who vow never to go this route. It's too risky, too tedious and sometimes downright humiliating to put yourself out there in cyber land only to meet posers and players, users and losers.

On the flip side, are the lucky few who find love on-line and swear it's the way to go.

It all boils down to time and volume. How much time do you have or want to spend perusing the multitude of sites out there and narrowing in on one or more that suits you. Where to even start can be humbling and overwhelming. And what to say and post about yourself is equally daunting. You either muddle through the litany of questions and blurbs to fill in or hurry through completing a profile to minimize the agony.

For those who are new to the on-line game, the novelty of it all can be exciting. If you're not too fussy, timid or plain old chicken, it can be amusing and fun to meet behind the veil of a computer screen. When the reality of actually meeting face-to-face sinks in, some never venture out to meet their potential match because it's like accepting rides from strangers; you just don't do it!

I started my matchmaking agency in 1994 after meeting my husband through my own personal matchmaker a few weeks before. To me it made sense to have someone else picking men for me to meet in a safe and dignified environment that was matchmaker-vetted.

It warrants mentioning that prior to being introduced to my husband, I was attacked at a bus stop by a man who ended up being a serial murderer that detectives believed raped and killed twelve women. The detectives said they all looked like they could have been related to me. Apparently, I was his “type” and was extremely lucky to have gotten away unharmed. I chased behind him after the incident to get his license plate number. While on his honeymoon, he was arrested for attacking me. After this experience I was extremely cautious about dating. My friends had taken up dating through the personal ads in the newspaper, and I could never wrap my head around it. I thought they'd be meeting men that were predators.

When the first online dating website opened, people were very skeptical. As time went on, more and more people started trying it. Creating a profile and searching through singles can be a lot of work but many people enjoy it and choose to have fun with it. It can even be successful for some and I have a few friends who have found their significant others through dating sites.

Before the internet era, people had to go out to meet one another, mainly in bars. Married people would take off their rings for the night and see who would be interested. Some simply want to see if they've still got it. Unfortunately, the internet has become the bar of our time and no one can see if you're wearing a ring. There are even sites out now strictly for married people to meet other unhappily married peoples to cheat on their spouses. It's very pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Detective and author John Douglas chased John Robinson for fifteen years before finally putting him behind bars. Robinson posed online as a single gentleman farmer and found all his victims online. He simply changed his profile to fit what his pray was looking for. The police found many bodies in barrels at his ranch. He was a married father of two. Not exactly what the women were looking for. The author stated seventy percent of the people online were in some type of relationship including marriage. He stated that percentage would rise in time. The book was written thirteen years ago.

Some of the main problems with the Internet is fake and inactive profiles, your information can never be removed and there's no screening process what so ever. It also opens the doors to a lot of unsocial people that have spent so much time on their computers that it feels more comfortable for them to email and text than to meet someone in person. They post old photos or photos that aren’t even themselves and drag out meeting because they're afraid to actually venture out from their computer fantasy. This is the perfect hunting ground for predators and they are stalking their victims through online dating sites and social media sites like Facebook.

Working with a professional matchmaker is a much safer way to date but unfortunately, the majority of people are going to continue dating online because it's the only option for many. Dating online is much more flexible for people who are not as ready to commit. Matchmaking agencies offer a much more personalized way of dating, screen the candidates for you in person so it's obviously safer.

To those out there who continue to date online, here are a few simple precautions to take to do it safely. In this day and age no one can afford to be naive about the dangers of dating on the Internet. Make no mistake about it there are almost as mush deception and crime against men as there is against women.

    1. Get their full name before you give out your phone number.

    2. Ask what their occupation is and the town they live and work.

    3. Google them, typically if they have been convicted it will pop up within the first three pages.

    > 4. Always meet, never allow anyone to pick you up for a first date.

    5. Agree to meet at a public place.

    6. Park with valet, never in a private parking lot or on a side street.

    7. If they try to get you to meet in a strange out of the way place, decline right away.

    8. Meet somewhere you have been to before and are comfortable with, that way if anything were to happen you know your way around.

    9. Never leave your food or drink at the table without your supervision

    10. Let a family member or friend know about your date, information about the person, what site you met on, their phone number, where you will be meeting and any other substantial information on them.

    11. If someone asks you for money, to borrow your car or wants to move in with you... Run.

Following these tips can help keep you safe in the search of love. And always remember, if something doesn’t feel right it probably isn’t. Protect yourself, and protect your friends.

If there's one thing I've learned in my twenty-two years of matchmaking you shouldn't depend on anyone or one avenue to help you find love. You won't meet anyone sitting at home. Become a more interesting and attractive person by learning and doing new things. Take art classes, dance lessons or learn to play a sport. Take a fun vacation. Do something to change lives and volunteer at a soup kitchen or animal shelter. Get away from your computer and put down your phone. Go out and enjoy life, meet different people and make interesting new friends. Going out and interacting with people the old fashioned way (face to face) is the the best way to find love.

SWEATT, A NEWLY LAUNCHED FITNESS-FOCUSED DATING APP OFFICIALLY RELEASES ITS WAITING LIST THIS MONTH FOR USERS IN THE NEW YORK TRI-STATE AREA

NEW YORK (May 2, 2016) – Created on the belief that great dates and healthy relationships start with strong, motivated, confident people, SWEATT is an all-new dating app that recently launched in January for the fitness community. Not exclusive to athletes and the physically elite, SWEATT is designed for anyone with a real commitment to the fitness lifestyle, from boot campers and cyclists, to yogis and CrossFit junkies. Smart matches are based on a shared lifestyle and a mindset - a commitment to fitness.

The app has already attracted over hundreds of thousands of downloads from health-conscious singles across the U.S. After an initial waiting list-only signup stage, SWEATT has officially launched to the public in New York, and will soon feature cities like Miami, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. SWEATT is heading towards a paid subscription model, though early adopters to the app will be awarded with free lifetime subscriptions, making the list worth the wait.

Though it has become normal to seek out fantastic potential partners during a workout, in reality gyms and jogging paths aren't always the best places to meet. Enter SWEATT. "Fitness is so much more than the time we spend working out. Our commitment to fitness dictates so many of the choices we make on a daily basis. Chances of compatibility are heightened when you choose to date people with shared interests, lifestyles and mindsets," said SWEATT Founder Dan Ilani.

Fitness-focused lifestyles have become an integral part of our culture, and SWEATT incorporates unique features that speak to those who live them. In addition to basic profile information, users' profiles include their two top fitness activities, favorite time of day to work out, average number of workouts per week and preferred 'fuel.' SWEATT does not represent a myopic network in which yoga lovers meet only other yogis, CrossFitters only other CrossFitters and Paleos only other Paleos. SWEATT creates intelligent matches, taking into consideration that the fitness community comprises a spectrum of people, ranging from "weekend warriors" to those who live it seven days a week.

"People have developed this love/hate relationship with dating apps because, while they are a great platform to connect, they are also filled with people who aren't serious and just aren't good matches,” says Iliani. “Instead of making life easier, they often feel like they create more disappointment. SWEATT solves that problem by bringing together a community of like-minded people."

SWEATT offers a simple and engaging user experience. The app authenticates users through Facebook, asks a few key onboarding questions that kickstart the matching algorithm, and allows for photo uploads from Facebook, Instagram, photo reel or camera. Users specify their preferred geographical distance, age range and sexual preferences to sort who appears in their feed. SWEATT's user interface puts precedence on large format photos and a more personalized experience than many mainstream dating apps. Digressing from other dating apps' swipe left or right thumbnail format, SWEATT allows users to swipe through full-screen photos of other users and scroll through their information on elegant pull tabs.

"We designed SWEATT to make connections happen faster and make sure people aren't missing out on someone great because they got buried in their match list," says Ilani. "With a belief in quality over quantity, there will be a limited number of suggested matches per day, choosing only the best for each individual user."

A major aesthetic point of difference lay in the way SWEATT's matches are displayed. When two members match, they are notified that someone ‘sweatts’ them and are taken to a dynamic, Instagram-like feed. Whereas many dating apps create a list-view of matches comprised of thumbnail images and first names, SWEATT's emphasis on imagery serves as a double opt-in, so users don't have to scroll back through profiles to decide whether or not they want to start chatting. Users can also quickly update their match photos without changing their profile images, to connect on a more personal and in-the-moment way with their matches. Matches expire after 21 days of inactivity to keep engagement relevant and interesting and encourage a community of active users.

Currently only available for iOS operating systems, SWEATT is now available for download from the Apple App Store. For more information or to build up a sweatt, visit www.getsweatt.com. You can follow Sweatt on social media @Sweattapp.

Questioning attitudes to dating across the colour line

A new study examines for the first time how both biracial and monoracial daters really feel about dating someone with a different background to theirs. The research, published in Ethnic and Racial Studies, suggests that, in the US at least, a person’s race still plays a big role in who might ask them out for dinner.

Allison R. McGrath of Vanderbilt University, and her colleagues, studied the profiles and racial preferences of 1,200 men and women on the US version of the dating site Match.com. The rationale for their study is that “although the increasing numbers of biracial people seemingly suggest that the United States is becoming a more racially and ethnically diverse nation, by investigating the dating preferences of biracial individuals, we are able to assess whether racial/ethnic boundaries are truly blurring”.

The authors found that roughly 87% of all monoracial daters would date someone outside their own race/ethnicity. An overwhelming majority of these monoracial daters stated a preference for dating whites (91%), followed by Hispanics (81%), ‘other’ (71%), Asians (67%) and blacks (62%).

The figures were similar for biracial daters, with over 87% indicating that they were willing to date someone outside their own racial/ethnic group. Again the overwhelming majority indicated that they were seeking partners who were white (92%), followed closely by respondents who reported they were willing to date Hispanics (81%) and ‘others’ (71%).

However, when broken down, the results revealed that certain racial/ethnic combinations were less inclined than others to date someone who was partly outside of their own race and ethnicity. White biracial individuals (Asian-white, Hispanic-white, and other-white, for example), were less likely to indicate a preference to date outside of their racial/ethnic category compared to the biracial daters as a whole.

To explain this, the authors suggest that “although our findings indicate that biracial individuals are more likely to seek potential partners outside of their same racial/ethnic identity, their dating preferences also reflect a distinct racial hierarchy that may account for why some racial/ethnic categories are more desirable than others”.

As McGrath and her colleagues explain: “Daters essentially ‘trade’ in personal, social, and cultural capital to find a romantic partner with characteristics that they believe will fulfil their own needs and desires. In the case of race, individuals who possess the highest level of perceived status may choose to date across colour lines if they also perceive some form of surplus (e.g. money or education) that would make the ‘romantic exchange’ equitable”.

Ethnic and Racial Studies, Allison R. McGrath et al., published by Taylor & Francis

Is Your Soul Mate A Mere Continent Away?

    By Anthony Volpe

Hundreds of years ago, people mainly only found partners in their local villages. Then, in the 20th century, with the advent of automobile transportation, they progressed to nearby towns and cities. Over the next century, as communications and transportation options further increased, finding someone special in another state was in the realm of possibility.

But now, with the progression of global communications, you find a potential soulmate thousands of miles away. As a result, online dating became one of the early stars of the Internet, both in its ability to engage audiences and to establish real revenue streams from paying customers.

And now, looking overseas for a potential partner provides one more option for people looking for that special someone. This is how international online dating sites have joined the ranks of many before them in the online dating world. While dominated by big name, mass audience sites like Match.com and eHarmony, a growing number of other sites, like AnastasiaDate and AsianDate, are finding success targeting singles looking for something very specific.

Since 2008, the online dating industry has expanded at 3.5 percent a year--right through the recession--to become a $2.1 billion powerhouse. Analysts expect the growth to continue over the next five years.

And here's some further science. Of 19,000 couples married between 2005 and 2012, more than a third met through an online dating site, according to a study published in the May 2013, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Last December, more than 1 in 10 American adults visited dating sites, spending more than an hour a day there on average, according to market research company Nielsen. And many sites make it easy to get online and meet someone--even across the globe.

Changing demographics are a big part of what’s helping grow the industry. In 1970, just 28 percent of American adults were single; today, the share is 47 percent, according to the Census Bureau.

The rising numbers are also helping the stigma against online dating. In a poll last October by the PewResearchCenter, just 21 percent of Internet users agreed with the statement “people who use online dating sites are desperate,” an 8-point drop from the last poll in 2005. The poll also found that 53% of all Internet users agree with the statement “online dating allows people to find a better match for themselves, because they can get to know a lot more people.”

With more sites popping up and user bases continuing to grow, it looks as though the international online dating world is very much intact and positioned for immense growth. And, with newer players branching out overseas looking to truly bring options for international dating to their audience, they may just have a leg up on their domestic counterparts.

Anthony Volpe is the chief marketing officer for AnastasiaDate and AsianDate, two of the leading international dating sites. AnastasiaDate enables men to establish exciting relationships with women from Europe. AsianDate enables men to establish exciting relationships with women from Asia.

Top 5 Tips to Landing a Quality Man

    1. Sit down and make three lists. First, must haves - go for the deep stuff. Please, no hair color specifications, c’mon. Can you TRUST him? Do you admire him? Do you respect him? Is he expressive, loving, in touch with his heart and spirituality? Second, make a separate list of nice to haves with this future partner. How do you act around him? What does he bring out in you? How do you FEEL around him? FINALLY, make this list: what would the woman who attracts a man like the one you’ve described have to be. And THAT is what you should focus on. Get yourself into a place where you are embodying the WOMAN that “ideal future mate” would do anything to marry. If you want to get the most amazing man you’ve ever met to fall in love with you - you have to create yourself, like a fictional character in a novel you’re writing, as the most amazing woman you’ve ever dreamed of being - then he’ll recognize you as his mate.

    2. Observe carefully - BEFORE the alcohol or the sex. Take note of four things specifically: 1. How much they do or don’t go out of their way for you (physically and emotionally). 2. Observe the way they speak to their mother (with reverence or disdain). 3. See if when you leave their company you feel more expanded than before meeting up with them. 4. Step back and witness how he interacts with you. If he wants you, he’ll come after you. Yes, it’s a little old school, but it’s a classic technique. And trust me, you don’t want to be running after someone for the rest of your life.

    3. Ask a lot of questions early on and BELIEVE him when he answers you. Don’t ignore the red flags. Make sure you’re “must-haves” are present BEFORE you have sex that will release a ton of oxytocin - the bonding hormone - and get you addicted to anyone.

    4. Do you feel called into a higher version of yourself in his presence? That’s a great indicator. Ask a potential mate “How do you see me? What is your vision of me in the future?” How a man sees you, beholds you and envisions you in the future has a great influence on how you show up in your relationship and thus the world. You will bloom around the right man.

    5. Show up as your truest self - even if that means you go on a date with him and a few friends (something a little more casual). Collegiate? NO - it’s actually the fastest way of seeing how he really is around others, and not in the rigid interview-esque format of the one-on-one, in which two people audition for the greatest role of their life: husband or wife. That scenario just lends itself to acting. Connect with a human being, not a “future husband.” Be yourself - because that’s who you’ll be in a few months anyway, and you might as well choose someone who likes you for your real self now, instead of hiding and hiding and hiding until one day you become so exhausted you just can’t hide anymore - and you break up.

    Spring Clean Your Dating Routine

Tips on getting a head start on spring cleaning your love life:

#1 Clean up your Social Media
You should assume anyone interested in dating you will google your name. Therefore, revisit and update all of your social media ASAP! Make sure you don’t have a shrine to your Ex or inappropriate pictures of scantily clad women on Facebook.

#2 Get rid of the Randoms in your life
Don’t waste time with people who are not marriage material. It gets lonely over time; however, spending time with a person who you are too embarrassed to introduce to friends, family and colleagues is a complete waste of time.

    # 3 Dust of your list of Must- Haves, Nice to Haves and Deal Breakers
If you're currently dating someone who's breaking an important deal-breaker (and is unwilling to change), why are you still dating him? Make a fresh start with someone who's in line with your most important values.

    #4 Refresh your living space
Don’t underestimate the impact of your home environment on your thoughts and mood. Get rid of items that bring you down and add some items that lift you up. Start entertaining so that you can start creating a home instead of a house.

    # 5 Boost your self confidence
Head to the gym, get a new haircut, go blonde or grow a beard to get yourself out of an appearance rut. A simple lipstick can boost your confidence. Work on the inside and outside on a parallel path.

    # 6 Toss the baggage
Purge any fear, anxiety, or self-criticism -- anything that's holding you back. While you're at it, lose any emotional baggage, as well. Pack up those suitcases full of guilt and regret so you can move forward, free and clear. Add some positive thoughts, such as, "I'm smart," "I'm talented," and "I'm oh-so-fabulous."

Relationships reflect aspects of ourselves. So by sorting out your thoughts and replacing the bad with the good, you'll attract better relationships. Predatory people target people with low esteem.

    # 7 One day at a time
We all make big New Year’s resolutions and then feel guilty when we do not follow through. Instead, set small achievable goals for yourself and work on them one day at a time

How to make a long distance relationship work on EuroDate

EuroDate, the top destination for international singles from Europe and abroad, often finds users asking the question: How can they make a long-distance relationship work? EuroDate’s expert and experienced staff have heard this question many times before, and have compiled a list of suggestions for users that will help them find a successful, long-term relationship with an international single.

The first step is understanding that a long-distance romance requires a lot of patience. “Many people trip up and jeopardize the relationship by trying to rush it and not allowing it to develop naturally. Of course you want to meet this new, exciting single in person right away, but you really can’t pressure this and rush it” said Dave Woods, EuroDate Spokesman. It’s important to develop a lot of chemistry and make sure that you really know your partner before you meet up. Be patient and use your time to get to know everything about the amazing single you’ve met.

Know your partners expectations. Once you’ve been using EuroDate’s premium chatting services to have fun, romantic conversations, it’s time to make sure you’re both on the same page and have similar long-term goals. Is your relationship ready to head to the next level, or do you want it to stay more platonic in nature?

It’s also extremely important to communicate frequently. If you’re only exchanging one message a week, maybe you’re not that serious about each other. In order to keep your long-distance relationship vibrant and growing, you need to be talking very frequently. Even if it’s just a simply conversation where you ask your international partner about their day, it lets them know you care.

Learn a bit of their language. A great way to let an international love interest know you’re into them is by learning a bit of their language, if it’s different from yours. Sure, almost everyone in Europe speaks English, but you’ll feel much closer to your partner if you show a strong interest in their culture and language.

    About EuroDate
EuroDate is an exciting dating service that connects over 40,000 European singles to each other in an easy to use online environment. Members can quickly and securely set up a profile and immediately begin searching for the perfect partner. Of course, starting a relationship and building it is more complicated than that, so EuroDate has a robust chat and messaging system that keeps singles connected 24/7.

Step Aside, Tinder and Hinge: New Data Shows Online Daters Using Desktops to Find Love

In an age where people do almost everything on their smartphones and have been flocking to matchmaking apps in their quest for love while on-the-go, recent data found that those who are looking for more lasting relationships overseas are choosing to sift through profiles and check out photos on desktop computers rather than on smartphones or tablets.

" people want to take time out of their busy schedules to sit down at a desktop and find someone special "
According to new online data pulled from leading international dating website AnastasiaDate, both men and women around the world logged onto the website 3.7 million times in total during September 2014 – 3 million times via their desktops (81 percent), 365,000 times via their mobile devices (10 percent) and 358,000 times via their tablets (9 percent).

“This new information suggests that, while we have apps on smartphones and tablets for basically every need in our daily lives – from ordering food and buying movie tickets to reading the newspaper, and yes, looking for love – people want to take time out of their busy schedules to sit down at a desktop and find someone special,” said Lawrence Cervantes, AnastasiaDate’s Chief Communications Officer. “It may initially seem like the opposite of what we would expect in today’s technologically driven society, but it makes sense given that true connections and relationships are formed when people set aside their smartphones and tablets to sit down at a computer and write out a thoughtful note to someone they are interested in.”

Not only are these people choosing to spend more time on their desktops to look for love, but they are also choosing international online dating over traditional local dating now more than ever, and this phenomenon is increasingly expanding throughout other areas of the world simultaneously. In addition to highlighting online daters’ technology preferences, the data indicates the top cities and countries for people who are looking for love internationally instead of at their neighborhood bar down the street.

Last month, in September 2014, top cities where people searched for international connections included London, Sydney, New York, Mexico City and Los Angeles, and top countries were the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Mexico.

“After looking at this data, it’s clear that there’s a major appetite for international online dating, especially in large cities, with London, New York, Los Angeles and others leading the charge,” added Cervantes. “We anticipate that this trend will spread to other cities, as well – outside of major metropolitan areas – as people seek to connect beyond just a right or left swipe on a ‘hot or not’ app.”

    About AnastasiaDate
AnastasiaDate is the leading international dating service that facilitates exciting and romantic companionship with beautiful and interesting women from all over the world. Founded in 1993 by a Russian-American couple, AnastasiaDate now has over 4 million international users and attracts more than 10 million online visits monthly. Additionally, over 1.5 million conversations are exchanged onsite daily. AnastasiaDate is committed to member safety, customer satisfaction and the ongoing pursuit of innovation. Part of the Social Discovery Ventures network, AnastasiaDate is served by offices in Moscow and New York with additional representation in every country it touches. AnastasiaDate provides a high level of customer service to a worldwide clientele. AnastasiaDate users are able to communicate across a variety of top-notch multimedia platforms, including video chat and a mobile app for Android devices available in Google Play.

Dana’s Top 3 Tips to Holiday Survival

    MarriageMaterial.co

The holidays bring up a myriad of mixed emotions. Friends get engaged and older relatives harass about when the single are getting married. On one side, most people are happy for their friends who are taking the next step in life; and, on the other side, it highlights that they are still single and no closer to finding THE ONE.

" I just don’t understand why you are still single. "
Dana says, “It is even more depressing to be nagged by family with the same questions year after year, when are you getting married? - or the killer statement - I just don’t understand why you are still single. The sanest person would question themselves and become defensive in the same situation.”

Dana’s Top 3 Tips to Holiday Survival

    · Eliminate all losers out of your life. Do not waste time with someone you would never introduce to your family or colleagues, much less marry. Getting rid of ALL non- marriage material is hard - no question about it. But settling for someone inappropriate is worse. At the top of the list is that he /she does not want to commit to you.

    · Start being the person to attract the kind of person you are looking for. If you have succumbed to watching Netflix from the couch while eating fast food and you want a partner who is physically fit you had better run not walk to the gym.

    · Do not put your life on hold or defer happiness until you meet The One? Take that trip overseas, become a homeowner, get a new hobby or entertain more. It will eliminate the smell of desperation and make you a much more interesting and confident person.

    MarriageMaterial.co

A fairly new dating site that implements a different approach to finding love. Introducing MarriageMaterial.co a dating site launched in early 2014 by female entrepreneur Dana Michel as an online solution exclusively for marriage-minded singles searching for true love as opposed to flings or casual hook-ups.

" an online solution exclusively for marriage-minded singles searching for true love as opposed to flings or casual hook-ups. "
These days most busy career-oriented people look to the internet to meet people whether its online dating sites or dating apps. The work/life balance has shifted and its been harder and harder to make time to go out and meet people during the daily hustle.

Dating Expert, Dana Michel offers her top three tips on how to make balancing a love life and work life more manageable:

    · Make a point of saying yes rather than no to going out and mingling with people. Break the routine of work, home and work again

    · Stop making excuses because you are afraid it will be a waste of time. Go out! You just might enjoy yourself and even better, you might find you are compatible with someone you would never have imagined

    · Get out of your comfort zone. Do something you have never done before. It will make you more interesting and increase your opportunity to meet the one. Sign up for MarriageMaterial.co, go to meet-ups, join a club or take up a new activity

    · Take a true assessment of your physical presentation to the world. It is critical to look at yourself with and without clothing in the mirror in decent lighting. Do you need to go to the gym? Do you look dated? Do you look boring?

    · Be honest...are you in desperate need of a makeover. If so, go get one ASAP. People are visual and make snap judgments.

    · Get in touch with your sexuality. So many people put it on the back burner because they work all of the time and they rarely date. Invest in sexy lingerie and consider taking a couple of pole dancing classes.

This online dating company is urging users to get STI tested

Sexually transmitted infections (STI). It’s not exactly a favorite subject to talk about, but it affects a lot of people and can be very serious. Unfortunately, each new year brings around 19 million new STI cases. These are staggering numbers for something that can be easy to prevent with safe sex practices. As a reaction to stats like those, one online dating company believes it has the responsibility to lead the way in creating STI awareness, and helping to put an end to the spread of infection.

    PriceDate.com

PriceDate.com has recently begun a PSA campaign to shed light on how many people are affected by STIs, and to provide encouragement for everyone to get tested regularly. At first, the popular online dating company doesn’t seem like the likeliest hero in the fight against STIs, however PriceDate felt like it needed to help its users stay safe and healthy.

The owner of PriceDate, Alex Greenberg, actually feels that “online dating companies have a moral obligation to promote safe sex and STI awareness amongst their users.” For PriceDate, it’s a no-brainer, and even an imperative, to help promote safe sex practices and keep its users—and everyone—healthy.

    Cold Hard Facts
Why does PriceDate feel the need to help? Online dating companies’ users are looking for love, and sometimes love can lead to sex. With user bases who are actively engaging in sexual activity, online dating companies can serve their users best by encouraging safe behaviors. In fact, a recent survey found that 43% of women had sex with a date they met online, and had a higher risk for contracting an STI. Men don’t fare much better, with a 25% higher risk of gonorrhea, when using social dating applications. This higher risk of online daters to contract an STI is why PriceDate knows it has to take action to spread awareness.

Given the vast number of people who are affected by preventable STIs, spreading awareness of safe sex practices is of great necessity. Perhaps the most startling statistic is that a vast percentage of people infected with STI’s don’t even know they have one.

Through encouraging safe practices through social media, and encouraging regular testing, the percentage of those with STIs can hopefully be decreased significantly as people start to practice safer sex and also get treated for curable infections. It’s PriceDate’s mission to remove the worry of health risks from the dating experience; entering the online dating pool can be stressful enough on its own.

    The Real Life Nightmare
As startling as STI statistics may be, what’s even more startling are the real life horror stories from people who have contracted these preventable infections.

Ruby M from Sacramento, California shared with us, “I was fortunate (but unfortunate) enough to contract Chlamydia, which is treatable. The embarrassment of finding out I had a disease and having to tell my partners they needed to get tested was terrible. I wouldn’t wish that situation on my worst enemy.”

Jonathan A from Ontario wasn’t so lucky. Jonathan found out he had HPV, the virus that causes genital warts, back in 2012 and that he had passed it to his long time girlfriend at the time. They are no longer dating. He said, “Finding out I had this STI that’s untreatable changed my life. It was bad enough that I passed it to my then girlfriend, but trying to date new partners now that I’m newly single again is even more difficult. It’s so much easier to have safe sex in the first place than to live the rest of your life with something like this.”

Dr Janet Hall of Australia recently addressed the growing rate of STI infections among seniors in her article, “The generation that keeps on lovin’, but at what cost?”

In the article, Dr Hall points out, “In general, our older generation grew up with a code of silence around sex, but now they are more open about talking about and experimenting with sex. It’s much easier to meet new partners with the advent of internet dating and the ease of international travel.”

This unfortunate trend is one that doesn’t discriminate based on age, and the rise of online dating users only makes it easier to meet new partners.

A “Challenge” to Other Online Dating Companies
“If online dating companies really care about their user base, they will bring this to the forefront,” says Greenberg, “It’s my hope that some of the major players in the online dating arena will shed some light on inherent STI risks. Awareness and education are the keys to reducing the stigma of getting tested (and treated).”

So who’s going to the be the next online dating company to jump on the STI awareness bandwagon?

    You Can Make a Difference
As a company that excels at bringing people together for social interaction, it makes complete sense that PriceDate has chosen to use social media to help spread its campaign for STI awareness.

Readers are encouraged to use the hashtags #GetTested #WrapIt and #SafeOnlineDating to spread awareness for the campaign and help keep daters healthy. Another way to spread awareness and encourage people to get tested is to share the Infographic that accompanies this article.

Along with using the hashtags on social media and sharing the Infographic, PriceDate is hoping users will also take action in real life. Getting tested on a regular basis and wearing condoms during sex are two of the most important, and surprisingly easy, ways to protect yourself. Keep yourself safe, and encourage your friends to do the same using those three hashtags on social media. With everyone’s help, it’s possible to keep online dating full of love and not full of risk.
