NFL Greats And Groundbreaking Entrepreneur Team Up to Launch Professional Football in China

Philadelphia, PA, July 1, 2016 - The schedules are set, the arenas booked, the teams have hometowns, logos, names, coaches, and now the players have been added.

The China Arena Football League will kick off its inaugural season in October 2016 with six teams. It's been three years in the making for the CAFL and organizers have been determined to build a strong foundation. The historic league is the brainchild of very successful businessman Marty Judge, owner of the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League.

Judge has teamed up with partners and NFL Greats Ron Jaworksi and Dick Vermeil. Other team executives include former NFL lineman Ed Wang (VP of League Development); former rugby player, coach and developer David Niu (President, AFL Global), and the head of football operations, Ken Bozarth. Chief Executive Officer of the CAFL is Gary R. Morris, who is president of the Judge Group.

On June 10th the CAFL held the league's first ever player draft, which was streamed live around the world and was broadcast in English and Mandarin. Over 500 players have registered for the draft, including many current US AFL star players, as well as standouts from Germany, Spain and Italy.

The CAFL Draft Show was anchored in the US by veteran sports broadcaster Lou Tilley, who will be joined in the studio by football experts from both the US and China. Ed Wang will serve as a studio analyst. The former Virginia Tech and NFL standout lineman is the son of two native China Olympic athletes, and heads the CAFL's Beijing office. Ed's brother David, also a standout at Virginia Tech, is expected to be selected in the first round. Clint Dolezel, the current head coach of the Philadelphia Soul, who will coach the Beijing Lions in the CAFL, will join the studio analysis, as will former NFL player and current AFL coach Phil Bogle. Other special guests will include CAFL and AFL-Global founder Marty Judge, along with founding partners Ron Jaworski and Dick Vermeil.

How do you prep for the Super Bowl? By eating a protein packed meal at STK New York of course!

Pro-ballers from both the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos were spotted in full force, celebrating and chowing down at STK Midtown and STK Downtown this week.

The Seattle Seahawks enjoyed a delicious dinner at STK Downtown last night, ordering Sliders, Seared Tuna & King Crab Legs, washed down with a bottle of Moet. Teammates Mike Robinson, Ricardo Lockette and Arceto Clark were reportedly in great spirits, and were overheard excitedly discussing the upcoming game and beating Payton Manning.

The Denver Broncos were spotted eating dinner at both STK Downtown & STK Midtown Sunday night. The entourage, including defensive ends Malik Jackson, Terrance Knighton, Jeremy Mincey & Champ Bailey split up between the two locations with most of the defensive end at the midtown hot spot.

All 25 of them were reportedly relaxed, seen laughing and celebrating while taking frequent trips to the Champagne bar to watch the Probowl, which included a clip of themselves landing at the airport.

To celebrate they ordered a bottle of Remy Martin XO, while feasting on a protein packed meal of Shrimp Rice Krispies, Sliders, Kobe Beef and Ribeye - truly a meal built for pro-ballers.

The Denver Broncos are in New York City for a week of festivities leading up to Sunday's supercharged event, Super Bowl XLVIII - against the Seattle Seahawks.

These young men are nominated by their schools’ sports directors, and are selected based on factors which include service to the community and academic achievement. The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® voting panel selects 11 award winners from the Football Bowl Subdivision I-A and 11 from the Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA. All members of the Good Works Team® will receive special recognition at the Allstate® Sugar Bowl® game in January, and have the opportunity to participate in community service activities in the New Orleans area.

This year, four African-American student athletes from the Football Bowl Subdivision have earned a spot on the Good Works Team®:

His community service includes serving as a project manager for the University of Miami’s Bone Marrow Donor Drive, feeding the homeless with the Miami Rescue Mission, coaching youth sports, visiting with families at the Ronald McDonald House, and volunteering for the Run For Your Lives 5K event. His community service activities include volunteering in schools, day care centers, veteran’s hospitals, the Ronald McDonald House, the Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Tim Horton’s Camp Day.

Nick Forbes is a junior linebacker for the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears. He is the vice president of the Golden Bear Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and has represented UC at both the Pac-12 Student-Athlete Advisory Conference and the NCAA APPLE Conference. Forbes has been a motivational speaker at schools and youth groups, and has volunteered with organizations such as Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland, City of Berkeley and Read Across America.

Asa Watson is a senior tight end for the North Carolina State University Wolfpack. On campus, he serves as a representative for the Society of Afrikan American Culture, an organization promoting cultural awareness and community service. Off campus, he has volunteered on multiple trips with Athletes In Action's "Urban Project L.A." where he helped on projects in inner-city communities. Watson has gone on mission trips as well, and recently spent the entire summer with his pastor father on a mission trip to Jamaica.

Black PR Wire salutes these fine student athletes for being such extraordinary role models to the younger generation, both on and off the football field.
